Birthday perks

I've read all about the birthday perks for those with AP's or Parkhoppers. BUT, what are people's real experiences? I'm trying to decide between the fastpasses and the gift card and I have a few questions from people who've actually gotten them:

--Is the fastpass good for multiple rides, or do you have to pick just one from Donald and one from Daisy? How many rides total? I'm a commando when it comes to the parks, so I'm thinking I may not NEED these, BUT we're going for two days during the week before Easter, so it'll be unusually crowded.

--Is the gift card good only at shops or can it be used for dining? I KNOW that the official writings exclude dining, but what are people's real experiences with it?

--Can I just go straight to City Hall to get this stuff or do I have to go to the ticket booths?

Last question:

How do the crowds compare the week before Easter with summer crowds? Similar? worse? better?

Restaurants won't take the card, DBF pulled it out accidentally on his bday (he had 2 gift cards as well) and the server said "I'm sorry, we can't accept those for food" and he said "oops, wrong one, sorry!" and gave the card to the server. Anyway, they won't take them for food. You can use them in the gift shops in DL, DCA and in WoD in DTD. You do not have to use the whole card ON your bday. Go straight to City Hall, no need to wait at the ticket booths when the lines will be less at CH. As for FPs, I have no idea, we've done 1 bday so far and got the fun card.

I don't know the exact number. I think it's 2 from each list. But I do know it is NOT a "super fast pass" or anything like the Dreams fast pass.

If it were me, I would take the gift card or the free ticket.

Not sure if I want fastpasses which I have gotten once in the past 6 trips in two months and that was for soarin. Do I really need fastpasses? NO

I need coffee mugs, clothing, and linens. I rather have 5 coffee cups or a $69 discount on that jacket I oh so want. I would not pay someone to go to the parks and run around getting me fastpasses not even $1. Go for the goods instead.

So... does this mean that if we are buying a multi day pass from New Zealand would we still be entitled to this?? it's my DH's 30th birthday while we are away (one of the main reasons we are doing this trip) would be neat if we could get it too

I'm sorry I did not know about this promotion - we aren't from the US so we don't get advertising for this stuff. I thought I was asking a harmless question

Search function does not work for me so I try not to post brand new threads when something is already open.

Maybe this sort of information should be a sticky for all us that don't know better.

It IS a harmless question, no worries. Yes, while you are here your DH will qualify for this promotion. He will need proof of his bday while there to get the gift. Go for the fun card, seriously, it's so fun having "extra" money to spend!

I will get the gift card, and will probably apply it toward an Annual Pass. It'll make it cost only about $70 with the 2-day hopper factored in!

Yippee, I didn't know DL was giving the gift cards. We'll have our tickets already so now dd can just get extra spending money !! (to buy more stuffed animals she doesn't need, LOL)
