OK.. we're celebrating my DD's 11th birthday party tomorrow. We ususally have huge parties, but this year we had to go out of town on her bday 'cause her brother had a competition. She got a trip to Applebee's and a few gifts, but no celebration really. (Bday was 2/6)

So tomorrow she's having 3 friends sleep over, and I had the brilliant idea of renting a limo to take them out. (Very reasonably priced on a Th morning in winter.) But I don't know where to have it take them.

I was thinking of doing 4-5 quick stops to go in and buy something (snacks, DT items, etc.) but I feel like if I do that they will not have much time to ride around. Should I not stress so much and just have them make 1-2 stops and ride around for an hour? Can anyone ask their kids what they would enjoy? It's going to be a surprise. :)

I was planning to have it drop us at a restaurant when we are done (we have it for 2hrs) and we will eat and bring the kids home in our van.

Any ideas? They are not "girly" girls.. so I don't think having their nails done would really go over well. I also don't want it to be something that will add to my budget too much.

Thanks!

i think 11 year olds are much harder to plan parties for. what sort of things do they like?

Video Store to pick up a movie for later.

Never been in a limo.

So, you will be taking them in the limo in the morning for 2 hours, then lunch at a restaurant, dinner at your house and then the sleep over? Just trying to get a handle on the time frame.

My DS is 11, and I don't know if it's a boy thing, but he and his friends are all about the food. What about stopping at DQ or Culvers for ice cream sundaes that they can eat in the limo? I know you are planning lunch after the limo, but its hard to think of something fun and sort of extravagant for 11 yr olds. What's more extravagant than eating ice cream sundaes in a limo?

Like PP, I think a stop at the video store is a good idea too. That's a long time to drive around, so that would break it up a little with just two stops.

they are sleeping over Wed night and the limo is for Th am.
We have it from 10-12 lunch time and then it is dropping us at a small family restaurant.

They are all sort of bookworms.

I think I will have them stop at DD for donuts and hot chocolate first. Then I have a small gift waiting for them at a local gift shop. I was thinking maybe 2more quick stops where I can leave things (hair stuff at our hair dressers, candy with a friend at the grocery store) and depending on how things are going have him take the long way to get there.

I wanted to take them to one place where they would spend some time but then thought maybe running around would be better. Still not sure, but need to have it planned asap.
Every place I could think of is very close, and I want them to enjoy some time in the car.

I've never been in a limo either and I'm looking forward to it. It's cheaper than if I was doing a bowlilng party or something similar, and like I said, she had no birthday celebration on her birthday this year and was a good sport about it.

Somewhere with a cool landscape for pictures..
Pictures in front of a limo aren't as cool when the limo is in your drive way

Book store with a Gift Card to pick up a new book.
$1 Store or place to pick up supplies to make a scrapbook of the party.

Like the idea about a place to have some pictures taken. Goes well with the scrapbook idea too!

How about a picture treasure hunt

picture of everyone at thier school ......
picture of everyone at the mall......
picture of everyone at a local landmark.....
ect....maybe 6-8 stops....

and the end stop is at the restaurant where they get a cute little scrapbook? (on the way home hit walgreens and print out pics for everyone?)

ORRRRR......switch things up a bit......take the girls to the restaurant for breakfast (and usually way cheaper) have the limo pick them up there, Then go on a picture treasure hunt with the last stop being walgreen to get the pics developed and have the limo take the girls back to your house to finish up the scrapbook?
