Hi everyone,

I have having 15 or so 4 & 5 year old boys at our house for DS's birthday party. What I am going to do to keep them busy? We have indoor and outdoor space, what are your best games/activities/etc. for this age group?

THANKS!

I don't know what you call this, but, tie a balloon on a three foot string onto to one ankle. Everyone runs around trying to stomp everyone elses balloon while protecting their own - great fun!

Have fun -

OMG, I just love having birthday parties at home and planning out the games and decorations!!! Just finished DS 6yo pirate themed party last week.

Go to www.birthdaypartyideas.com for some really great kids party themes and ideas. It's my favorite site! They list tons of party ideas, and then list decorations, invitations, games, goody bags, food, etc for each theme.

Stuff we have done for his 3/4/5/6yr party include:
- Rescue kitty in the tree. Get a tall ladder near a tree, put a stuffed kitty up there on a branch and let them climb up to rescue the kitty. Seems dull, but they absolutely loved it.
- Pick up candy out of a large bowl with animal grabber heads. Buy a few of those animal head grabbers on a stick and set out a big bowl of candies. they must use the grabbers to pick up the candies and put them in their goody bag.
- Toss water balloons at a target
- Set up an obstacle course. Crawl under tables, jump over boxes, crawl thru tunnels, jump on hoops
- Cannonball fight. I had 2 teams standing behind 2 blowup pirate ships facing each other. they had to throw pirate beach balls at each others ship for 5 minutes. Losers had to walk the plank (some boards laid out on ground over blue plastic tablecloths with rubber snakes and alligators around it)
- Scavenger hunts
- Squirt gun fights or spraty bottles filled with water, foam sword fights
- Dribble, Dribble, Dunk - just like Duck Duck Goose, but with person who has a bucket of water and dribbles some water on the first person, dribbles some on the next, and then eventually dunks the whole bucket on a select person who then chases them around the circle

Boys are awesome to do fun games with. Hope this gets you started.

Treasure hunts go over really big. I just did one at a 4th birthday, and all the kids loved it.

Great ideas!!!

Can you give me tricks/tips for a scavenger hunt?

A friend did tell me about birthdaypartyideas.com, but it was kinda overwhelming!!!

I love the obstacle course idea, DS makes up his own courses sometimes.
