...I found this awesome book that relates to DS's party theme (pirates..) and I really wanted to buy each kid the book if they CAN come (instead of a regular goodie bag) . The books are $6.95 each though, and I'm not buying 16 of them unless they're all going to show up.

What a really cool gift for the kids! I hope you get the rest of the RSVP's today. Have a great party and Happy Birthday to DS!! :flower:

I'm gong to be leaving little Valentine reminders I guess on Monday for our slackers.

How did the party go?

My DD's party is this Saturday...I didn't get ANY additional RSVP's over the weekend. There is a V-day party at school tomorrow, I hope to nicely corner some mommies there. :teeth:

I know there were other mom's who had parties this weekend. Hope they all went perfectly!! :cheer2:

I just want to add, thank goodness when they get older because then the kid can find out who is coming or not.

I hope your dd had a happy birthday!

This is a BIG pet peeve of mine and I sure wish some folks would be more considerate. We run into this problem every year and it just plain irritates me. I've tried the regrets only route and have had no better success. I do like the "Please call 555-5555 by date*** and tell us yes or no.", I will try to remember and give that a try.

{{HUGS}} I hope you get your replies in time so you don't have to make a ton of phone calls.

Awesome!! I now have a new way to word our invitations. Thanks. :cheer2:

We're in the same boat right now. DS4's party is the same day as MB MinnieGirl. We invited 30 kids and have heard from 16. :earseek: I did ask for a rsvp by 2/17, so we have a couple of more days. I hope I get a more accurate count before hand. Like others, I have to prepare the goodie bags and don't want to be short.

I've tried the regrets only line. That one backfired big time last year when we had 16 people who didn't bother to call for DH's 50th birthday party. 16 out of 35 was a lot of food we ordered from the caterer which ended up being thrown away.

With my mom's 80th surprise birthday party, we thought we had it covered by sending a pre-addressed reponse card with the invite. Just check yes or no, we will/will not attend. Guess what?? We still had a couple which never bothered to send it back.

I now have a new line to use. Hopefully people will be more considerate.

MB MinnieGirl, Happy Birthday to your DD princess: . Have a great party.

We have 6 of 15 and it is tomorrow and we are doing lunch at a decent restaurant. We didn't give them a full week to respond because DD was supposed to pass them out last week but got sick on Friday. Still, would it kill them to call? Of course, at this age (DD11) a lot of the kids have decided to handle it themselves. Most of the calls we got are from the kids. Also, some of them just told DD at school that they plan to come. I don't know whether to count on them or not since they didn't call and we haven't heard from their parents. What do you think?

For the record, all but one of the girls who told DD they were coming did, in fact come. All but one that came also had their mom call. We got the last call from a mom on the morning of but, as I said, daughter had told DD she was coming. None of the girls that did not come RSVPed. Anyway had fun. Hope each of yours went as well.

This was the non-family party for us and probably the last.

I hope your daughter still had a good time :)

:rotfl2:

I was like a mad woman at school today. I was chasing down kids at the Valentine's Day dance asking them if they were coming, and plowing down parents in the parking lot. Not to worry - nobody was injured. ;)

On the upside - I got 4 more RSVP's out of it, plus 1 more that actually called today. :Pinkbounc

I'm fully convinced children's birthday parties are the reason for ALL grey hairs and any signs of early aging.

I just have one thing to say: why are people so rude?

I hope all the birthday kids have great days!!!

Why are they so rude?
Probably pathetically disorganized. DH is taken by surprise by Christmas every single year. The invitations are lost in piles of papers. Rebates are never filed (lost out on a $100 this year). He forgets to eat until dinnertime (also too lazy to cook) then he is ravenous. The disorganized punish themselves as well as inconvenience others.
