We will be celebrating my husband's birthday during a 3-generation family trip to Disney World in May. I know that personlized cakes can be ordered for dinner - we're eating dinner at Coral Reef (his choice, of course) and I plan on doing that.

I've heard people talk about Mousekeeping decorating the room on someone's birthday - how do I go about that? Do I have to arrange it ahead of time or can I leave a note in the tip envelope earlier in the week, or should I talk to the front desk?

What other (cheap and or free) birthday stuff can be arranged? Someone at work told me about having a scuba diver bring out a sign at Coral Reef but I'm assuming that's expensive!

Thanks for any help! (This is also my first Disney World trip EVER, so I'm just learning!)

were celebrating ds's 3rd next month down there. ive never heard of mousekeeping decorating the rooms, so i want to see if anyone else has! i just snagged a happy bday banner at the dollar store yesterday.

as both first time dw visitors and his bday, you can get buttons saying such for free at either onsite hotels at check in or at any of the parks. there are happy bday ones, first visit, anniversary ones and newly wed ones.

were doing the cake thing too, i have to order that this week! eek! we leave in 23 days!!!

um you can order a basket from disneyflorist.com, or theres another lady that makes baskets up and they will set them up in your room while away. theres also a company that you can hire for a steep price to come in and decorate. or you can do a grand celebration or something to that effect from disney florist at i believe 300$ and they will put mickey touches throughout the room.

there is a bday thread somewhere on the boards. i think its called how to celebrate birthdays at disney world.

Mousekeeping doesn't decorate the room. They may arrange stuffed animals already in the room. They stopped doing the Coral Reef diver. The front desk "may" do a card. But the only way to "guarantee" anything is done for a birthday is to pay a service like Gifts of a lifetime. Or order a celebration from the Disney website.

As far as free, you can get a free birthday button either at the front desk of your hotel or at a theme park.

You can get a free phone call to the room from one of the Disney pals wishing him a Happy Birthday! Go to the front desk or Guest Relations and ask, there are a few things available for wherever and whatever you are doing/going.
Have a Magical Day!!! (and a Happy Birthday for your husband!!!)

I decorated the room myself for DD's birthday (as someone mentioned, you can pay a private company to do this but it's quite expensive...Mousekeeping won't do anything). I just had DH bring her to the pool so I could decorate.
