This is going to be our first time to disney so very excited, we have booked the full board standard meal vouchers for when we go. Whilst there it is my sons 2nd birthday and want to know a good place to eat and I'm thinking of booking one of their cakes are they actually any good. Any advice is really appreciated as its also for my dads 50th. There are 6 adults and 4 children (9,5,4,2).:) thanks in advance

Are you looking for a character meal or a buffet meal ot a t/s meal ? What sort of food do you all like ?

The birthday cakes are pretty ordinary chocolate cakes like the ones you get in supermarkets here and I've seen but never eaten in the UK. They are not freshly baked to each order but as they cost 25€ and would feed 8-10 people at least it's not too bad.

Do your vouchers cover all restaurants ?

i can't speak from recent experience but we have booked to have lunch in cafe mickey with a birthday cake for my little boy's 1st birthday. I have seen on here people saying the food isn't that great but tbh for us we wanted a character meal for the little guy and this one is a decent price. we're not really in to seafood and the price of inventions was just too much. obviously auberge has the advantage if you have a girl but otherwise bit too girly in my opinion.

the quality of the food wasn't the biggest factor for us as we have some big eaters in tow and they like simple food. as i said for us it was about picking somewhere with the right atmosphere for a 1yr old and not too expensive. having been to cafe mickey a few years ago i felt that it would suit us best

p.s. i liked the food, nothing wrong with it as long as you don't expect gourmet!

The cake itself is very bog-standard (and the same whichever restaurant) but you have to accept that you are buying the event, not a bespoke gateau :rotfl:. We had a Cafe Mickey birthday experience for our son last year and the characters were lovely and made a great fuss of him. Our cake was brought in by Goofy, lit up with candles, to a loud musical rendition of "Happy Birthday". The only thing I would say is that because CM is so popular for birthdays, this is going on every ten minutes or so and as such is perhaps not such a surprise or at least, unique experience, for the recipient. This didn't matter to us but having eaten at other restaurants where the birthday cake came out only once in the evening, it has seemed a bit more special for the guests involved and the restaurant audience as a whole.
