Birthday Invitation Question

Hi there. I know I am over obsessing and that there is a thread out there already for people like me..... but here goes:

This will be our first BD party for DD at a children's party place. The kids invited will mostly be cousins, her neighborhood friends and since she just started pre-school a few kids from her class. DD only mentions 4 children by name when she talks about her school friends and it seems like this group of girls spend the whole time together (snack, play, reading). My question is how do you go about sending out invitations. I know two of the mothers already so they are taken care of. But the other two children stay in school for the afternoon program. I don't want DD to hand out the invitations in front of the class and hurt anyone's feelings. Can I ask the teacher to hand them out discreetly? Or is there a better way of going about it? Someone suggested asking for their home addresses but I feel that might be too personal information to give out since I am still a stranger.

Any suggestions from moms who have already "been there and done that" would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. Have a great night!

I know that here that is a big no-no as would letting her hand them out. County school district policy is that if you give an invitation to one kid in the class, you have to give one to every kid.
Is there any way you could send your phone number to the moms in question and have the call you?

At the preschool that my son attends, they have a fairly strict privacy policy and will not give out addresses to other parents. So the best option was to put invitations in the cubbies of kids he wanted to invite (I made him cut it down to not the entire class because of party size issues) in their cubbies. Since that is where the teachers left the end of the day reports, parents were sure to see them there.

For his party last February, I sent out the invitations a month early, and about a week before the party I left friendly, "are you coming, need to know?" notes (we had a lot more kids coming than I anticipated, almost went over the kid's gym place limit:headache: ) a week before. Everybody responded to that one, so I got a better head count then.

As an aside...I have had small "friend" birthday parties every year since DS turned 2. (That first one was just meeting at the local IKEA for meatballs and cupcakes:) ) This last birthday, when he turned 4 was the best time of all. I let him invite kids from everywhere, so he had church friends, school friends, and a few from his old playgroup. The kids did a lot of activites, ate cake and pizza, and had an absolute blast--they all blended together in a way that I would have thought impossible. Who knows what we'll do next?

Good luck, have fun with the planning!

I don't know if your dd is at a preschool or in kindergarten but having worked in a preschool and currently teaching K, I'd say to just send them in her bookbag with a note for the teacher asking the teacher to place them in their folder or mailbox or whatver they have to store daily work that parents pick up or whatnot.
