Will be celebrating my 34th (!) birthday at WDW next month, specifically spending my actual birthday at Magic Kingdom.
The last time I celebrated a birthday at WDW (also at MK) was in 2007, when I wore the HBD button and got lots of well-wishes and a little extra pixie dust. Last year I spent my 33rd at Disneyland Hong Kong and did the Star Fireworks VIP Dinner (waste of money, terrible customer service and food, so much that I wrote an email to complain later), the best part of which was the dedicated fireworks viewing area.
This year I wanted that exclusive viewing area experience again during fireworks so I wanted to get reservations for the Tomorrowland Terrace dessert party but it sold out by the time my friends all agreed to spend the $$.
At this point, the trip is less than 30 days out and I don't know what, if any, extras we can plan. We don't want to leave the park to go to a hotel restaurant dinner. In fact, we're not a sit-down meal group, though I can convince the group to do a nice (not fine dining, but better than counter service or buffet) dinner for my birthday as long as we stay within MK. I'm not even sure whether I can get a restaurant reservation at this point.

Any thoughts??

At this point check what restaurants are available for ADRs. Because no matter what we recommend if it is not available it doesn't matter.

What about non-meal options? Any place in MK for a special treat or anything others have done that stood out?

If you had your heart set on the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party, you could use Disney Dining Buddy to check availability for you. It does cost $8 to search, and there's no guarantees of course, but it might be worth a shot for you!

Special tour? There are three in the MK that adults would enjoy: Keys to the Kingdom, The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, and Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom. KTTK is the most expensive; last time I checked it was about $80. The others are a lot less.

When one of our group was celebrating a birthday in the MK, she got her hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop, and they sprayed this cool Mickey Mouse confetti into ALL our hair! People were stopping us all day and asking us where we got it done.
