First, I can not believe my ds is already a year old. Seems like just a short time ago I was dis'ing my pregnancy away.

So now to the problem at hand....what to buy her! She is the 3rd child and 6th grandchild, so we have an overabudance of baby/toddler toys. We don't need any more walking/talking/light up anythings. Unless of course they are totally different than what we have.

She got a doll baby for Xmas and a purse for Easter. So I'm just not sure what to buy.

Any good ideas out there? I also thought of starting some kind of collection for her, adding to it every birthday but I'm not sure what. Precious Moments is all I know.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...........

Give her a trip to WDW.;)

Does she have one of the little hammer set thingies they make for toddlers? That was my ds' all time favorite thing to play with when he was a baby.:)

Does she have a Shape-O ball? That was always my girls favorite.

Got the hammer, got the shape-o ball. Oreos are for Mommy!

Her WDW trip is next year. ;)

For my dd's first bday, I got her one of the motorized 4 wheelers.:) She loved that thing.:) It was a few months before she could do anything but sit on it and make voom voom noises, but once she learned to push that button, she REALLY loved it.:)

We have given big, plush, over-stuffed animal pillows in the past. The kids are old enough for them and they can go to sleep on them, crawl over them, cuddle on them, etc.... Little bean bag chairs are cute, too.

I keepsake tea-set? Something for her to play with when she it older?

It's hard to avoid the usual stuff, especially when you already have so much of it already around.

When my dd turned one we had a huge BBQ in her honor and I knew she would be getting tons of stuff (first grandchild on each side), so I figured she didn't need anymore toys/clothes, etc from us. What I did instead was buy her a charm bracelet with a heart charm and engraved it "for your first birthday, love forever mommy and daddy". Of course she couldn't wear it then, but she is know 7 1/2 and loves to wear it for special occasions. She has gotten more charms as the years passed to commemorate her life (first dance receital, first christmas, first puppy, etc) as she grows. Now, for any of my friends that have daughters, they are expecting that gift from me now LOL!, and of course, I do this for my neices also.

LOL! Have you seen the new commercial where the parents buy their one year old a large screen TV - just in time for the game!!!!

Toy shopping cart? Swing? Toy vaccuum cleaner? Some of the new educational toys? playhouse for outside? play pop up tent? Books?

I love the charm bracelet idea. That reminded me of a friend whose grandma gave her a pearl each year for a pearl necklace.

Is she ready for all that "play house" stuff yet?

LOL at the big screen tv! :)

karel-on your list we have all but the shopping cart. That is pretty sad isn't it?! I think my kids all have too many toys. :(

Naw - I have three also and I know how it is. Sadly, it's my middle child that's hard to buy for. He's the second boy but the youngest is our only girl so there's always something to buy for her. They are the first grandchildren in our family and the only ones until only a few months ago so we don't get a lot of hand down toys. I think back to all the things they got last Christmas and I don't think they play with any of them. But it's nice to get something new, especially if you're the third. Wander around the toy store or look through some specialty magazines and see what pops up.

karel-I have the same problem. 2 boys then the girl. I think she'll be easy to buy for after this year, once she's ready for all those girl toys. My 2nd son is tough though.

How about a big empty box? That seems to be their favorite thing after everything else is opened and laying around!! LOL!

I just wanted to pipe in on jewery idea. I have a charm bracelet that my parents bought me for my first bday. hey have added a charm to it for each sig event in my life. I am now 30 am have quite a collection. Another idea is my parents set up a savings acct. for each of us kids, they put so much into it for each bady and Xmas. When I went to college I paid for 3 years of college and a down payment on a car from that money.

Ok, first of all, does she have any Little People? DD loves little people! My whole living room floor is their village. Perfect size for them to carry around, and her 'friends' go everywhere with us.

Also, when DD was 1, we got her a chair from Pottery Barn. One of those sofa chairs with her name in the cover. She loves this chair and sits in it to look at books, watch tv, play, whatever. And it can be used for a long time.
