My DS is turning 4 at the end of the month . I could use some ideas for his birthday present. DH and I are taking him to a day out with Thomas the train on his big day and we bought season passes to the local waterpark for the summer, but we still need some actual gift ideas that he can unwrap. I'm not planning on going crazy this year for him. He has so much stuff already, but I still think its important for him to have some things to unwrap. Here are some of the things he already has (I promise he is not too spoiled  ): a train table with all the accessories, a bike, a leappad, enough sports equipment to outfit a small athletic department, tons of cars, planes, trains etc.., art stuff, Disney DVDs, books, and art stuff. We just moved into a brand new house and I have outfitted his room in pirate stuff. I'm open to any and all suggestions, please.

How about some sidewalk chalk and bubbles or maybe some pool toys for the waterpark, soft balls, etc.

My DS's 4th birthday party was today (his birthday is tomorrow) and the biggest hits for him where Imaginext dinosaurs, Power Rangers megazord and an Animal Planet Baby Animals Safari playset. :)

If he's creative or likes making things, get him one of those big crayola yets with crayons, glitter glue, markers, colouring books, sidewalk paint (yes, paint!), and more. There should be some at Wal-mart that are inexpensive, and the kits are great for all ages. You could try play-doh too!

You could also try some lego (they have pirate themed sets, too!) or K-nex.

Do you live near a beach or lake? If so, how about his own fishing pole and tackle box. Then you and your family can spend quality time with him and also teach him something new.

I second the outdoor stuff. My two are dying for that Crayola sidewalk paint..our new driveway is getting done next week and then we're buying it.

.

My 4 year old son has an Imaginext pirate ship and pirate island that he plays with a lot.

The ever popular Hot Wheels and all things Power Rangers.
Play Dough and all the accessories are always a big hit with him.

LOL I just said Matt what do you think is a good birthday present for a 4 year old boy and he paused in playing his Star Wars game on his GameBoy, with Star Wars Epsidoe 1 playoing on the TV and said "Oh! Star Wars!"
He's obsessed. He loves all his Star Wars stuff.

He has a big red tub of Legos that he uses a lot, great gift!

Check Zellers/ Wal-Mart. I saw I pack of 3-5 for about $13 CAN.

DS is turning 5 Mon. and still loves Rescue Heroes and Legoes. His 2 favorite things. I always buy books, too. Books, books and more books. Never too many ;) We also just got him a subscription to My Big Backyard (nature magazine) and I expect it to be a big hit. :cloud9:

At that age my son loved Rescus Heros. There are so many different ones to choose from and their accessories are great too. After that he moved onto Bionicles and K'Nex. Get ready for the smaller pieces though.
Good luck on finding the perfect gift.

My DS's favorite thing at that age was his easel. It was a dry-erase/magnetic board with a chalkboard on the other side.

He also loved his Big Wheel (still does at 7) and his T-Ball set.

Does he have a Leapster? DD is 4 and loves hers. There are plenty of games that are boy-oriented, and the Leapster is learning-focused.

Another suggestion is a tape recorder and books on tape or a CD player with same. DD can manipulate her CD player fine and really enjoys listening to her CDs and stories. She even borrows CDs or tapes from the library and listens to them.
