Birthday Gift Ideas for 10 Year Old Girl?

To all those who are telling me to nix the Barbie, I bought her a Barbie for Christmas because her grandmother and stepmother both told me that she still loves Barbie and that she would be happy. She and her younger sister play Barbie together. In addition to a Barbie, I bought her a purse from Justice.

I am not considering another Barbie or Build a Bear (that would not be something that would ever have crossed my mind for a ten year old) for her birthday. I was just asking for other suggestions for a "young" ten year old.

I appreciate the help.

I have a "young" 11 y.o. DD who was a "young" 10 y.o. DD. She would also have not been interested in Build a Bear or Barbies at 10, although she would have accepted them politely. My DD loves gift cards of all kinds.....Claire's, Justice, iTunes, you name it. But if you want to give an actual GIFT and this girl is really youngish, here is a suggestion to add to the already good ones you've been given. When DD was 9 or so, I gave her the American Girl craft book with DVD that was about how to "do your hair." The book gave instructions on how to style hair with pics, and the DVD showed the styles being done on the doll's hair. But the neat thing was that the styles were also great for a real girl's hair. DD could learn how to "do" hair and then "do" all her friends' hair. They had precious styles that were not babyish at all. So for a young 10 y.o., I'd say that particlular book is a good one, unless she has short hair.

the Klutz book for paper bead jewelry making-my girls 11 and 12 love it! keeps them busy for hours! They received earrings made by one of their friends last year for their birthdays, so I think a younger girl would be able to do it too.

There's also a Klutz book for friendship bracelets that is pretty cool too. But be warned, I let my daughter make one for me about a year ago and we tied it on my wrist-didn't think about getting it off later. I've worn the darn thing ever since. Keep thinking it will fall apart, but no, that floss is really strong!

Justice has glow in the dark nail polish that both girls think is so cool. The green doesn't have much color to it (I'm not a big fan of nail polish), but it does glow!

Silly Bandz,

Club Penguin stuff-comes with a code for online play if she has an account. They have gift cards for monthly subscription to Club Penguin if she's allowed to play on the computer.

DS game is always a good choice.

My daughters' aunt takes each of them shopping for their birthday. It's good alone time (she lives several hours away) and they love it! She usually spends about $20-$25 and it's such a big deal to go out with their Aunt!

She'll be thrilled with whatever you get her! No worries! Enjoy the pink aisle!

!

August - I've been wearing it since August. It's a little faded, but strong.
