Hello,
It will be my son's birthday when we are at DL soon. We already got park-hoppers for the days we are staying so we are opting for getting the "Fun-Card" for him. What is the latest on getting one? I registered him on the website, but I haven't gotten any sort of confirmation, note, etc. Since he's a minor do I still need to bring ID for him (I could bring his passport if needed) to prove its his birthday to get one? Do I have to wait in the lines at the ticket booth or is there somewhere else I can go and by pass the lines.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

There is a full, ginormous thread about this and I will find the link and put it here for you, but in short:

You should receive an e-mail about 2 weeks prior to his birthday. Print it and take it with you. There is a barcode at the bottom. Be sure those numbers print or write them down, as some have reported DL's scanners having trouble reading the barcode depending on print quality. If you don't receive it, no problem, he can still get his Fun Card. You would go to City Hall, I believe.

He DOES need ID. It has to be a legal document that shows his birthdate so they know he is eligible on that date.

ETA: Found a shorter thread with all the info first,
showthread.php
, posts 37-40 are very informative.

Hope you have a great trip,
Dreams

I just registered myself and my 2 kids and got e-mail confirmations right away with a voucher type thing you have to take with you. I'm not sure exactly where you have to take it but I was thinking it was somewhere inside the park not at the gates if you are doing the funcard. You will need ID For your son. It mentions a birth certificate for minors but guessing a passport would work.

FWIW you don't have to register at all. It can all be done there. And yes everyone has to have legal ID, so birth certificate, passport, driver's license...one of those things...

Thanks for the replies... I hope my soon-to-be doesn't have his driver's. I'd be afraid to see him out on the street. 0_0

A cm just told me to register online at disneyland.com

I am wondering if i will be able to register my three grandchildren who have premium annual passes at my email address?
As i am already registered to that email address.
hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm... we will see.:confused3

Yes, the system will let you add others. There is a link at the bottom of the page.

I just got back today. My birthday was Sat. I had preregistered but never got an email. However, it was not a problem! I just went to the ticket booth, the lady asked if I'd registered and I said yes, and she did something on the computer and that was it! I opted for the gift card. It only took a couple of minutes.

Just wanted to let you know that you don't have to go to City Hall.

I never registered online for my birthday, January 6th, because I wasn't planning on going ! All I did was just go to the ticket booth & asked for my ID & AP. She registered me right on the spot & no problems at all. Since I'm an AP holder, I got the Fun Card :)

I would think it would be faster to go to City hall. Ticket booths are packed in the am:sad2:

DBF was not registered and it was not a problem in any way. We went to City Hall and had his card in about 10 minutes. That includes waiting in line. :) Ticket booths can give fun cards too and the lines go down in the afternoon. You do not have to get your card first thing in the morning, you can get it anytime that day. And yes, you do need to take some proof of his birthday in, I'm taking copies of my girls birth certificates when we take them in. I was able to register myself and my 2 DD's with the same email address with no problems, it was just not accepting DBFs bday when I tried to register him..no clue why, it just kept telling me I was entering an invalid date.

Has anyone selected the park admission ticket and then upgraded it to the 3day hopper?

I've read through all the info with regard to the options and it does say you can upgrade. I'm a micro planner and need confirmation in advance that I can do this.

Well, they told us when we got our fun card that we could use it for upgrades. I imagine you could do the same with your admission ticket but I've never done it.

We found that both the lineup at city hall (which was way out into the street - crazy) and at the ticket booths was much too long in the am! So we just went out in the afternoon to the ticket booths (city hall line up was still so long) and only had about a 5 min wait!

Happy Birthday :cheer2: I have a couple questions:) Was the giftcard good for just one day or could you use it over the course of your vacation? And could you use it in World of Disney downtown? And finally how much did they give you?

This was true for us as well. We did not have to wait long at the ticket booth at the time we went (about 11 AM Sat), but there was a long line at City Hall. We had to go to the ticket booth anyway since my dd had to activate her Costco ap voucher.

Thanks!! It was really cool, because all the CMs and numerous guests wished me happy birthday all day :goodvibes . The only thing I regret about it was that my birthday button had my full name on it because the CM got it off my ap and I didn't change it. I don't go by that name but a shortened nickname so it took me a while to realize when people were using my full name to say happy birthday that they were talking to me!

I actually did not use my gift card yet. It does not expire (Disney changed that rule pretty early on) so I'm saving it for my next trip. An adult gets $69 and a child gets $59. It is good at World of Disney and most Disney shops, but cannot be used for dining, though you can use it for food that is sold as merchandise, like at Marceline's Confectionery or the Candy Palace. You can also use it to upgrade passes or purchase a tour.

Just wondering is a passport good enough for ID...or would we have to make sure to bring a birth certificate. Thanks

No birth certificate is needed! Any government-issued ID will do, passport or driver's license!
