My DS will be turning 8 this trip. Initially I had made a PS for dinner at WCC for his big day. We ate breakfast there and he loved it. The only thing is that our waiter didn't do any of the normal shenanigans. Today I thought I should mention this to my DS, since he is sensitive, and see if he would mind being embarrassed on his birthday. As I thought, he is totally against it.

This means that I now need to find somewhere else for us to eat. He wants "American" food. Basically some place with burgers, hot dogs, etc. I was thinking that maybe DS and I could have something more extravagant since you can get that all over Disney. Also, someplace we can order a cake.

We are staying at the Poly so would like to eat somewhere that would be very convenient to hopping back on the monorail. Our plans after dinner are DisneyQuest so the easier back to the resort the better. Any suggestions? Since his birthday is November 11th, I should probably change this soon if I am going to. Oh, we are eating at Chef Mickey's for breakfast.

We'll be there the same time as you for our sons birthday - which is November 12!

I recommend 'Ohana at the Poly for dinner. Food is great and it is a fun atmosphere. You will not be served burgers and fries but the food is basic enough for the most picky of eaters. Chicken skewers, beef, shrimp - all served with dips and sauces that you can try (or not) at your own discretion. Great bread and salads too! My kids favorite is dessert - they serve you bowls of pineapple with carmel sauce for dipping. You could also order a cake.

We have never been to Disney without a dinner at 'Ohanna! Last time we ate during the MK fireworks. They dimmed the lights and piped in music and it was magical!

I hope you and your son are happy with whatever decision you make!

Happy birthday to your DS as well!

We tried Ohana last trip and the kids weren't really impressed. The excitement and the energy in the place was great but the food wasn't that great that night. I was kind of disappointed since it was my birthday that night. The kids had a great time getting gummy worms though!
