From Disney's "What will you celebrate?" FAQ section of their website:

"Disney's Special Birthday FASTPASS® Cards. Save time waiting in line and get immediate entrance to the FASTPASS® return lines of 6 select FASTPASS® attractions at the theme park you visit that day. No need to return later in the day to ride. Plus, when you select this option, you can also receive cards for up to 5 additional members of your party.

The birthday FASTPASS is something you are supposed to be able to get if you opt out of a free ticket or Fun Card. I can't find anywhere that says where you go to get the birthday FASTPASS. Anyone out there know the answer. TIA.

You need to go on disneyland.com and put all your birthday info in for the certificate. When you go to DLR you'll need your printed voucher and your drivers license (or birth certificate if too young). Then you take it to any of the ticket booths and you have the option there for the fun card, free admission or fast pass. HTH!

Thank you so much for the fast response. Do you know how early before the DL gates open that the ticket booth opens to do this? I want to be able to get the birthday FASTPASS before entering the park for the Magic Morning. I am worried that I will waste good touring time with a more empty park just to get the FASTPASS for six rides of DL's choice.

Thoughts?

Hey Mdwings,

Just thought I would help out with some of your questions.

...The birthday FASTPASS is something you are supposed to be able to get if you opt out of a free ticket or Fun Card.

First, I wanted to clarify your understanding of this because it is not exactly what you have said. It is not something you can get if you "opt out" of the free ticket or Fun Card. Let me explain.

The Birthday promotion offers free admission on your birthday. If you already have admission on your birthday (through an AP or a pre-existing multi-day pass), you can select one of the alternate gifts since you do not need admission. You cannot just choose to buy a ticket and get an alternate gift instead (which is what I would consider "opt out").

You go to City Hall or the Guest Relations booth outside of the Parks with your gov't issued proof of date of birth, your confirmation e-mail if you pre-registered, and your pre-existing admission for that day (which allows you to get the alternate gift).

Wow! That really helps. I was worried that I would have to wait until the ticket booths open and then get in the park a little later than I wanted to. I have my 3-day PH tickets already so I think I used the term "opt out" incorrectly. Everything I have been able to find (now that I got the clue that you can do this at the ticket booths) says that the booths only open 30 minutes prior to park opening. If this is 30 minutes before general admission I would lose at least those 30 minutes of Magic Morning fun in the parks. My question now is:

Is this worth it?

Okay, you have a 3 day PH. So you will be able to get an alternate gift. You can get either:
- Birthday FPs
- a ticket good for free admission on one day in the next 365 days
- or a $73 fun card good at most shops in the Park (or towards an AP or tickets)

If you get the FP, it has been explained by some who have selected it somewhat as follows (as my memory serves):
There are several attractions set by Disney for birthday fast pass. You get to select FPs for a certain number of attractions (various amounts have been reported by different people). You will get FPs for those attractions that you select for everyone in your group, up to 6 people. They are good only on your birthday.

Is it "worth" it? I guess only you can decide that. The idea of having $73 to shop with is exciting to me, but everyone likes different things. :goodvibes

You don't get your alternate gift at the ticket booths. You get it at Guest Relations, which is either City Hall or the Guest Relations booth outside the Parks. You also do not have to get your alternate gift at the beginning of the day. You can do so whenever you want.

I just wanted to add that we were there for DH's birthday. We had APs so he chose the fun card. We went to DL first and went on all the rides while the park was uncrowded. Around 10ish we went over to DCA and went to the guest relations just inside the gates, off to the left. We walked right up to the counter with no waiting and we also didn't loose that prime time at DL for getting on some rides.

Personally, we took the gift card. To us the fast pass option was not worth as much as the gift card.......

I agree, we had plenty of FPs to use by collecting them every two hours and using them when the lines got longer.

Just to weigh in, we've done 3 bdays at DL this year, none of us have done the FPs, we've all done the Fun Card, and I know that DD9 is looking forward to have her Fun Card to spend on her 10th bday. :)

I just wanted to mention that we were there on my birthday in July and I actually did get my Fun Card at one of the ticket booths and not Guest Relations or City Hall. It was quick and easy and the CM there also gave me my birthday button to wear as well. The lines were non-existent at the time so it worked out well. Sometimes though, the lines at the ticket booths would not be worth the wait to get your alternate gift there. :thumbsup2

As far as "is it worth it"? The number of rides you get FPs for depends on the crowds that day. Some have gotten up to 6 rides, some as little as 2 or 3.
