Birthday Dinner

My family will be in WDW at the end of August. It is my daughter's 13th birthday and would like to take her somewhere special. Is there a specific restaurant that I should take her to that would make a "big deal" for her birthday? Thanks for your help!!

A suggestion would be to take your dd to one of the character meals for her birthday. At many of the charactr meals we have attended we have seen(and experienced first hand) "the Birthday Big Deal". At Chef Mickey's the characters all twirl napkins and sing, at Crystal Palce Tigger, Pooh, Eyeore and Piglet have a parade, often lead by one of the birthday children at the restaurant, others are often lucky enough to be a part of the parade banging tambourines or little drums.
Even if your daughter feels she is too old for a character meal I'm sure she will love the attention where ever you plan on going... just make a note of it on your Priority Seating(PS) and let the Cast Member(CM) know that you are celebrating a birthday. Sometimes a cupcake will arrive and CM's may sing happy birthday.
If you really want to make it special you can preorder birthday cakes at some of the restaurants for around $10(not quite sure about the price, maybe someone else knows?).
All in all, you are at WDW and your DD will love celebrating her 13th birthday.

From what I understand, just about every sit down restaurant will make the birthday girl feel special--it just depends on what your DD would feel comfortable with. My soon to be 13yr. old would NOT enjoy a character meal, but wouldn't mind a nice dinner at Cindy's. She's opted for dinner at Alfredos (her favorite place) to celebrate her birthday on our trip in Oct.; the day of her birthday we'll be in DTD and at the Halloween Party, so we'll eat at the Rainforest Cafe (another favorite of hers, but without the birthday cake). My husband is also celebrating a birthday during our vacation in Oct.--I think we'll celebrate his at the Biergarten in Germany, because he's a German guy! As far as other restaurants, the Prime-Time Cafe might be fun; I can imagine that the cast members there would go all out to make it a meal to remember! Have fun with your planning!

I would recommend the 50's Prime Time Cafe. They are so much fun over there at MGM and would make a fuss if you told them it was "sis' Birthday"!

Cinderella's Castle has a nice atmosphere and that Disney magic...

For an outstanding special dinner, I would recommend dinner at the California Grill; it is pricey, but worth it! Make the reservation for 8 PM and if it is clear, you will get a glorious sunset view from the top of the Contemporary Resort and maybe even fireworks after dinner if you check the schedule for the Magic Kingdom.

How about the Hoop De Doo? That's one place that really almost guarantees a birthday to be recognized.

As an FYI, although some of the restaurants do recognize birthdays with a cupcake for the birthday person and such, not all do. Depending on how busy they are, your server, and supply levels, it doesn't always happen even at those that are known for it. If you want to be assured of a cake at dinner (or any other meal), please call the restaurant directly in advance and arrange one for a nominal fee with the manager. That way there won't be any disappointment.
