Will be down this summer over my birthday with my wife, almost 2-year old, and my in-laws. Want to go someplace fun but still with good food for that particular day. Have done Whispering Canyon before and thought it was cool but wanted to try someplace new. Any ideas/suggestions?

While it's not my favorite, most people I have gone to Disney with, love Ohanas at the Poly. Make a reservation right at six months, it's very popular.

I second 'Ohana. It's one place we go to every time. Our one year old loved all of the hustle and bustle the last time and we can't wait to bring him again this year.

I was there Saturday for my birthday and chose Sanaa at Kidani lodge for dinner as we were staying at Jambo house so convenient.
Food was awesome and different although we are originally from SA

What kind of food are you looking for...?

Places with fun atmosphere: Ohana (Poly), 50s Primetime (DHS), Via Napoli & Biergarten (Epcot), Bongos, Raglan, & House of Blues (DSp)

What is Ohana like for dinner? I've done the breakfast there and loved it. Know nothing of dinner. Have done 50s, Via Napoli, Raglan, and the Biergarten. All decent, not sure I want to do a repeat. Have done House of Blues outside of Disney and didn't care for it.

No characters, but still very fun and warm. You're entertained by a lovely woman on the ukulele who gives you leis and interacts with the guests as she walks around, singing traditional Hawaiian songs. Like breakfast, food is served family style- bread and salad first, then dumplings and chicken wings, then meat skewers (chicken, beef, and shrimp) served alongside noodles and vegetables, then bread pudding for dessert. Some people have stopped caring for the dinner service but I still love it. The food is great and the whole place is very warm and inviting.

Now that sounds like something everyone I'm with would enjoy. A bit of something for everyone...except the bread pudding thing. Never have enjoyed that.

T-Rex or Rainforest in Disney Springs.
1900 Park Fare is a lot of fun, the evil step-sisters are really quite funny, and of course Cinderella and Prince Charming are there. Pretty good dinner food.
But my first choice would also be O'Hana.

Ohana is a good choice, but it's been hit or miss for us that past few visits. Sci-fi is fun and has decent food. The atmosphere would probably occupy your toddler. Sanaa is nice if you go early enough to see the animals and if you like indian food. Boma is excellent. You could also do BOG if you wanted something very Disney.

Have a great trip! :)
