Birthday cupcake?

Can you just ask for this while at the restaurant? Would it be a DDP desert?

No, it is not a DDP dessert. Have never heard of anyone actually asking for it, because it is not something you "order" (unless you've ordered and paid for a birthday cake in advance - you can do that.)

...the usual scenario is that it's been noted on the reservation that a birthday is being celebrated, or is mentioned at check-in, or the person is wearing a birthday pin. And then a cupcake was sometimes presented, or sometimes not. Because birthday cupcakes are not a guaranteed perk...it's just something extra you might get.

All restaurants do not have the birthday cupcakes. And you do not automatically get one because it's your birthday. Some people have reported that all they got was a pleasant "Happy Birthday"...or the chef wrote "happy birthday" in sauce on the plate of the dessert they did order on the DDP.

We went for our anniversary 2 years ago. We got anniversay pins on our first day of check in and wore them everyday in the parks. Without even mentioning our speical day we got cupcakes at nearly all our sitdown reservations...it was great! We were on the DDP as well!
We got our pins at check in but I believe you can pick them up in the Magic Kingdom at town hall and the pins are free of charge!

All of my 5 dc's b-days are within two months of each other. We will be there for one b-day, but I also wanted the others to be able to celebrate since theirs would just be a few weeks away.

I'm letting each of them pick a character meal as their special meal. We'll get the pins, and make the notes in ressies and see what happens!

If anyone has anymore advice or suggestions, let me know. I just don't want to have to order 5 cakes when they would be happy with anything special!
