Hi,

We're in countdown mode - 3 weeks to go!

We're staying a VWL - renting points from friends. DS 3rd birthday is a week or so after we get back from WDW and we're planning to do some celebrating while at WDW. They noted on our ADRS that it's his birthday week, I ordered a birthday cupcake for Norway dinner, I'll get a birthday pin for him when we're there, etc...

But what about the resort? Do they do anything special at DVC if you mention you're celebrating a birthday? Is there anything special you can order to be in the room when you get there if you're celebrating something special?

And if they do do something special for birthdays, do I need to tell the person I rented from to call and mention it on my reservation or can I mention it when I check in? We have an early flight and if there are no delays will be at the resort arund 12:30pm - chances are the room won't be ready then so if I mention it at check in can they do something for when we finally get to the room later in the day?

Thanks for your help...

The resort will likely not do anything special for your birthday celebration. I wouldn't bother trying to notify them.

I took my daughter and her BFF about 4 years ago and while there they each celebrated a birthday (they are 2 days apart) and each girl received balloons and a card in our room on the day of their birthday. This was before we were DVC members, I believe we stayed at CBR.

I went to Disney last Christmas and my Birthday is 30th December. My husband booked a 2 bedroom villa at SSR for us that night, on check in the cast member said "I have delivery, I be right back". She came back with envelope containing a certificate of Year of Million Dreams with Mickey wishing me Happy Birthday! :bday: I asked my husband how did they know, apparently he mentioned it on booking.

With this year being What Will You Celebrate I would definitely mention it to DVC before arrival.

I forgot to mention, two trips ago we were celebrating our Anniversary and we got back to our room at OKW after our first day at the parks and there was a signed card from Mickey and Minnie, two or three balloons being held down with a weight.

We didn't mention it till check in about our anniversary and it was in our room the day after.

If you get something, that's great, but don't expect it.

We celebrated DGS 6th birthday one year on St. Patrick's day and got nothing; they did tell me where we could order a cake.

DHs birthday is NYE (2 minutes to midnight) and he got nothing..The free pass didn't start until Jan 1st!!

On both occasions CMs knew about the birthdays.

June:)

Thanks for the input...from what I've heard things are pretty much hit or miss. I mentioned his birthday on our ADRS. I ordered a birthday cupcake for one meal and will proably get one of the cakes for another to make sure there's some kind of little celebration. Plus I'll get the birthday pin.

I'm thinking that with free dining there will lots of people in restaurants and lots of people celebrating things so I'm not expecting alot at the restaurants unless I sepcifically order a special cake. But you never know -and anything more will be a bit more magic.

I'll probably mention it when we check in. You never know - as they say there's no harm in asking.

It will be my mom's 80th birthday on our trip and I did mention it when I booked our resorts. It would be nice to see something special for her; she would be tickled pink! :goodvibes I ordered a cake for her myself, so that is covered.

becasmom - Happy Birthday to your mom! I hope her birthday trip is filled with Pixie Dust and magic!
