I'm a first time poster so thank you in advance.
My son is turning 5 and we are going to Disney to celebrate. Our trip coincides with Thanksgiving as well.
I'm looking for a fun way of making his birthday extra special since it falls toward the end of our trip.
I have looked into the in-room celebrations but they seem so costly. Are there other fun options I may be missing?
Are the cakes even good? Lol

The new cakes look pretty cool delivered to most Disney Restaurants.

You don't mention your plans for the week, but I would consider a character meal, a special cake or perhaps the Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise! We've done the in-room celebrations before, and, yes, it was quite expensive and not really worth it IMHO. My son also loves the kids' only pirates cruises run at several of the resorts. His favorite is the one run from the BC/YC boat dock.

Thank you! I will accept any and all suggestions; this is only our second trip. The cake is VERY cool and much better then I saw online. Where could I order a cake like that? I do have a character meal planned and we are doing his birthday dinner at T-Rex

You can add a cake to your dining reservation. Follow this link and open the "Read More" on Cake Delivery to Disney Restaurants.

I'm trying to come up with ideas, too, as I have a nephew who's turning 5 on our fall trip--and none of them have ever been to Disney. I don't know how big your group is, but this year, we have 12 total, so we secured a Beaches & Cream reservation on his actual birthday and plan to do the "Kitchen Sink" dessert. I think he will get a kick out of the spectacle of it. I plan to get a cupcake (maybe from Boardwalk Bakery) to take into the dinner as well, and stick a candle in it to make it feel official. :bday: I know you said that y'all were eating at T-Rex, but you can always get a ressie at B&C and just order dessert.

I'm trying to figure out how to get some balloons, though, without paying the high price of those in-room celebrations. If I find any helpful info, I'll report back.party:

I love the idea of Beaches and Cream after looking it up. I checked and it's booked up right now my entire trip but I'm going to keep looking! Thank you! I found a nice ballooon package for $40. I'll get the link to you!!!

Since B&C is booked, you could do Disney Springs and a make your own rice krispy treat at Goofy's Candy company. You can also get a Mickey's Kitchen Sink at the Plaza on Main Street - two or three kinds of ice cream, whipped topping, hot fudge or caramel and cherries on top (tip don't try to go near parade times - it's crazy)

Get the birthday button and make certain that his birthday is on all dining and room reservations. He will get lots of birthday wishes (and he can celebrate your entire trip). The button may or may not get any pixie dust attention, but all of the birthday wishes will make him feel special.

My nephew's birthday is on actual arrival day. Upon check-in, I plan to have everyone check out the lobby/grounds of the hotel while my sister and I go to the room and (quickly!) put up a banner and balloons and lay out a present or 2. There are some really cute Mickey-themed birthday banners on Etsy. I may order one of those or make my own. I'm bringing red, yellow, white, & black latex balloons that we'll blow up since our 4 boys (ages 3-5) love messing around with them. We plan to buy some cheap Dollar Tree Mickey decorations and horn blowout thingys, too. Maybe you could plan to have him come back to a festive room or wake up to one? Just don't forget to pack the tape. :)
