There is a big chance I will be celebrating my birthday in Disney next year (it will be either WDW or a Disney Cruise, but for this question, let's just say it's going to be WDW).

I'm looking for something special/memorable to do on the actual day. My family will be with me (and my husband and I are taking a couples only trip later in the year) so nothing romantic necessary, but what would you do/want if you spent your birthday in Disney?

When we eventually get to WDW, our trip will likely encompass my birthday. I am interested to hear people's ideas 'cause realistically, I got nothin'. I am thinking maybe a dessert fireworks cruise? I love chocolate, like fireworks, and dislike crowds. WDW promises to be a challenge for me in the feeling crowded department, so am evening of relaxing with the family with yummy desserts and pretty fireworks with lighter crowds appeals to me. I may even wear a tiara in our room while enjoying my morning coffee. :ssst: Whatever you do, :bday: Mums, and everyone else, come to think of it, deserve a little just-this-once on their birthdays.

I celebrated my 40th birthday there. I loved Chef Mickey's with our family. The character interaction was great. On my 50th birthday, I celebrated at Narcoossee's . We timed it so that we could watch the electrical water parade and Wishes fireworks from the boat dock. The food was much better at Narcoossee's.

Thanks! I've thought of some obvious things (getting a cake from private dining delivered to one of our ADRs), but would love to know who has done something like this and if it was worth it.

We will be spending my birthday in WDW next month. Both my DH and I have done so a few times in the past. I really wanted to spend the day in AK and was hoping all the new nighttime stuff would have started by then but it doesn't look good. Now I am thinking of trying to hit all 4 parks in 1 day. We will be getting AP's and will be down for at least 7 days and then heading back in October so I just want to hit our favorite things in each park and catch one night time show - either IllumiNations or Wishes. We also have early dinner reservations in 'Ohana (3:40pm).

We did a private Wishes cruise out of the Poly for our 5 year anniversary after dinner at 'Ohana with our bridal party (we all came back to celebrate our anniversary) a few years ago. So far that has been one of our favorite things to do. I would highly recommend having a nice dinner at one of the resorts that the boat can pick you up at and then doing the Wishes cruise after. This was a surprise for all our guests, even my DH didn't know. I believe our pontoon boat held 10 or 12 people.

We have ordered several cakes for delivery at a restaurant in Disney. Absolutely worth it! Cakes were beautiful and delicious and the attention from everyone around us, CMs and guests alike, was pretty cool too.

Thanks! We are doing an Illuminations cruise on our upcoming trip (some of our best friends are joining us for this vacation and it will also be somewhat for our anniversary a few days later). If we love it, I would definitely look into doing the Wishes cruise on my birthday trip! A nice dinner reservation is a must - I just have to narrow down where I want to eat.

Thank you! Did you order from Private Dining from whatever resort was applicable? Or can the cakes me ordered at any restaurant? I've always heard it was a private dining purchase, but that was information I picked up in passing, not when actually planning something for myself or a family member.

There is a cake thread under the restaurants page here with all of that information but where you order depends on where you want to have the cake. There is also a cake hotline that can direct you to the right place 407-827-2253. I ordered mine through MagicKingdomCakes@disneyworld.com since each of them were at MK restaurants.

Different bakeries service different resorts and restaurants.

Thank you! I just stumbled across one of the Cake Threads - I remember I'd seen it before, but only scrolled through for fun, never for the purpose of ordering one. So this time around, I've been compiling a list :).

Oooh! I have one. How about an afternoon tea at GF or one of the other places that does afternoon tea? You could order your cake to be served then. Those afternoon/high teas always feel special to me - probably because of my sweet tooth! :cake:
