I went to the World 12/19-23. I took my teenage nephew with me for his birthday. I had an ADR at 1900 Park for 12/18 (GRRR.....), and did not realize it until two (2) nights before we left. Originally when I planned it, we were going to leave on the 18th. Anyway, I was so disappointed at first because it was too late to book a different day. I love the cakes at GF, and needed a restaurant there, so I booked the GF cafe. I wasn't sure he was going to like the Cafe, but I could not ask him because it was a surprise.

I ordered him a Mickey Head cake, and everything was set for the celebration on the 22nd. I think my nephew thought I forgot I and wasn't going to do anything for his birthday. When we got there, I told our server when I asked for the dessert tray to bring out his cake. He didn't have a clue. When the server came out with his cake, he was so surprised.:wizard: The best part was the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday to him. He was grinning from ear to ear. He said, "Auntie I thought you forgot." Not for my favorite nephew.:lovestruc

The cake was delicious. I thought it was just vanilla cake, but it had a creme filling. We ended up bringing 3/4's of it home. I didn't think it would go through security, but they said it was okay. The food we had was good, too. I still have not figured out the picture posting, but just wanted to share the birthday celebration.:woohoo:

Great surprise and a great aunt, too !
Can you tell me where it was ordered from, how much
and how big was the cake ?
Thanks.

Certainly. I ordered from the cake line (407-827-2253), and I just followed the prompts for the restaurants at the GF. The cake itself was $48. It was probably 9 x 9, but remember in the shape of the Mickey Head. Plus, I am guessing on the approximate size. I am going to try and post a picture of it later tonight.

Thanks for the info. I have always wanted to do that.
We will be at WDW in October for Food & Wine, our Anniversary and the
Half Marathon Relay. This would be a great cake to
order for the family.

I just finished looking at the site - WOW !
The cakes are amazing !
I still like the Mickey Head for us in October.
Thanks again.

My dd celebrated her 13th at the GF Cafe. It was just wonderful. I had ordered her cake a month prior to our trip. We had eaten such a huge breakfast that we weren't very hungry when we got to the Cafe for lunch...so, the server just brought out coffee, sodas and....the cake!! The entire place sang to dd. It was so terrific. And, they boxed the remainder of the cake (actually about 3/4 of it!!) so well that we ate it when we got home!! It did cause a stir at security by it got through in the end.
I wouldn't hesitate to do that again!!!

Neither would I. I usually do a birthday celebration for myself. One of my favorites is the slipper dessert.

DVC at Last, you are very welcome. You will have to let me know how your celebration turns out.:cheer2:
