Birthday cakes

I've been reading on the birthday / cake board all about birthday cakes. It's DS (will be 3)'s birthday whilst we're there? Has anyone ordered a cake from Disney and did it go well? Also, would it be better for us to order a cake for dinner (at Chef Mickeys?) or for one to be delivered to the room!???!!!

Never had a cake delivered to the room, but we did order a birthday cake for a meal at Ohana once. Unfortunately they had no record of it when we booked in at the podium! However, they did an excellent job in apologising and rustling up a birthday cake for us, which arrived at the table at the required time after dessert.
You may want to think about skipping dessert if you do this as we were all too full to each much cake!

ds had a cake delivered to chef mickeys last year.Everybody was very helpful and the cake was great.we had a 9 inch sponge with white choclate icing and mickey on top.took us ages to eat it we took it back to hotel, as too full after dinner

you always get one at walmart and i am sure they put photos on the top as they do at Asda in the UK....just another option.

We had a lovely cake at the Boardwalk and one at the Wilderness Lodge before They are gorgeous cakes If you have it at a restaurant as Kev says do not order dessert

We ordered a cake for our anniversary last year at California Grill. We ordered at guest relations in one of the parks 48 hours before our ADR. The cake was a white choc icing and it was fabulous. We will be finding some reason for ordering another cake on our next trip without question. It might even be a "back to Disney" celebration cake.
