A lot of you have posted about bday cakes from the restaraunts onboard the dcl, how do you get one? Is there a number or person to contact before the cruise or do you make arrangements once on board. My son's bday is while we're on the land part of our cruise but I thought it would be nice for him to get an actual cake considering that the first night of our cruise is only the day after his bday

We have had our cake arranged for us by our Travel Agent ahead of time. But I know you can also talk to your server once you're on board. But if you'd like to have it waiting for you the first night you can arrange it with whoever you arranged your initial reservations.

Have a great time!

You can tell your DCL rep know your anniversary/birthday/celebration when you make your reservations through DCL. OR you can tell your server when you meet him/her the first night.

Either way, a cake will be delivered after dessert and a birthday song is sung by several servers. We have had both birthday, anniversary and even a "welcome home" for our military member celebrated on ship at our table.

The servers are more than willing and ready to accomodate any request!

Enjoy!

We have been at a table that had a celebration only once (a long time ago). The cake is cute. The cake doesn't taste that great (DCL desserts are much MUCH better). But it is still a fun time and a time for celebration. So celebrate and make wonderful memories.

Perhaps the cakes have improved since your cruise. My parents were presented with a lovely 40th Anniversary cake on the last night of our 10/11 cruise. It was delicious! Unfortunately it was just too big to eat it all. We fed the 11 at our table and still had more than half of it left. SInce it was the last night of the trip we asked our servers if they would be able to enjoy it should we forget to take it with us. He said that they would so we left it behind for them.

jrabbit, An idea is to maybe next time - stick a candle in a slice of cheesecake and celebrate that way if it tastes that much better! Sure sounds good to me! Yummmmm

Speaking of cheesecake - there is one at Parrot Cay during the Italian buffet lunch that is to "die for"! Wish I had foregone the entree and just ate cheesecake ----- maybe next time!!!!

This thread reminded me of our very first celebratory cake on DCL, way back in Sept. of 1998. Our head server asked if we were enjoying the cruise, and we said, "Yes, we're even thinking of returning for our anniversary." He asked when it was, and we explained that it was five months away. The next night, he came out with a cake! We said, "But it's not till Feb.," and he said, "Nothing wrong with celebrating early." :D
Ironically, that weekend was actually the anniversary of our first date, so I guess we did have something to celebrate after all.

So if I decided to surprise dh with a little belated anniversary celebration (our anniv. is 2/29, which we actually get to have this year, and our cruise is 3/20-27), they wouldn't look askance at us? When you only get a real anniversary every 4 years, it's fun to do it up right, and I'm sort of thinking of dinner at Palo as being part of that :D A cake would be wonderful as one part of our dessert!

I told my travel agent about my DD birthday. However, while we were on the cruise I realized it was my Cousin's birthday and I had forgotten. I told our waiter and it was taken care of.
