I am planning ahead to December and mom's birthday at BWV. We'll be at BCV in May and I would like to sample some good birthday cakes. We're going to have 20 people at the party, but for the tasting, cupcakes would do. Heck for the party, 25 decorated and artfully displayed cupcakes would do too. Does anyone have suggestions? White or yellow cake, white or chocolate icing, not whipped cream. Dear sister has a great cake baker in Haddonfield NJ, but bringing it from home is a bit much.

If you call the Hotel, Yatch or Beach Club, they will make you whatever you want.

The cakes are outrageous, and about $30 approx

ALso, if you get a buton saying it's your B-day, at any of the parks (ask any CM), they will give you a cake and sing Happy B-day at any of your PS meals.... Really was fun.

Personally, I think the Kitchen sink at B&C could be fun. NEver tried it.... LOL

Well, Boardwalk Bakery certainly would be the closest in Dec. We've never stayed at either BW or BC/YC, but now I remember reading about people stopping by for their morning coffee. OK, we'll try that one in May, but if there is anyone out there that had the hands down most delicious cake ever, please tell me, even if it's not white/yellow. We'll also be celebrating DH's 60th, (don't tell) on another day, that one's a surprise, his real birthday is in November.

IMO, the Red Velvet Cake they serve at the Crystal Palace in MK just can't be beat. I can still taste it, and we haven't been there since October. Yum!!

(it's the same color as the letting in my post here, really; and delicious!)

We ordered the birthday party package thing from the Beach Club room service menu for our DD's b-day in November. They brought in a beautiful chocolate creation plus party hats, streamers and a balloon.

She was surprised. Of course we never knew how it got there! ;) She was impressed that Mickey knew it was her birthday (She turned 7) and calmly declared..."It really IS the place where magic lives."

Made my whole vacation, that did.

I think it you check allearsnet.com in the menus for the in-room dining you might find a category called Amenities and this birthday package is in there. Can't remember the price, but I am sure it will list it somewhere.

Have fun! Be sure to post what you decide because this trip will be my DS's birthday and I love new ideas.

DH and I celebrated a wedding anniversary while staying at BWV two years ago. Grandkids surprised us with a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery. It was decorated with our names on it and "Happy Anniversary". It was good.

The cake was small, probably a 6" round. Since there were only 4 of us, it was the perfect size. I know that's too small for 20+ people, but just wanted to mention it in case there are couples or small families that want to celebrate an occasion but don't want a large cake that they wouldn't be able to eat all of before checking out.

I have ordered 4 cakes at Disney. Well ordered 2, 2 comped from the Boardwalk.
We had 2 little cakes sent up from the Boardwalk bakery, one chocolate, one yellow, Both were good but nothing I would rave about.
The second was brought aboard our Fireworks Birthday cruise, which is a great way to celebrate a Birthday! Honestly it was the best cake we have ever eaten, ( MY DD just came in and I asked her if she thought we should do a fireworks cruise for the twins Birthday or Cabana rental at HRH and have a party there) And she said well that was the best cake ever! First thing out of her mouth was a reference to the cake.:p It was brought aboard by The Wilderness Lodge recreation so it was baked by them, I highly recommend it!
Third option is Goodings Market. Yes they are overpriced but the cakes are not over priced at all, In fact are alot cheaper than onsite. You can actually go Goodings online, and see cakes available online. They have a chocolate Cake with shredded chocolate on top. ( Very Good) There is even space online to personalize the cake. they deliver a $50.00 minimum straight to the resort, It's a very easy service. Good Luck!

I think that's the first time Nick has quoted one of my posts with his smilies!

During our first trip to OKW in 1993 we arrived on my niece's birthday. We allowed her to choose the reataurant for dinner that evening and we all went to Chef Mickey's (located at DTD at that time). MS had made our PS and I mentioned her birthday when I made the PS and again when we checked in at the restaurant. Mickey and the CMs came out with a 'birthday' cake in a 'hot air balloon' basket and sang Happy Birthday to her. She was delighted (and she had just turned 14)!
Before we left home I had contacted MS and asked what we could do and they ordered a birthday cake for us. When we returned from dinner at Chef Mickey's there was a lovely birthday cake with Mickey on it, some balloons, birthday hats, paper plates, napkins and a birhtday card signed by 'Mickey & Minnie'.
I don't know who was more delighted my niece or the rest of the family! As I recall the cake was delicious. I don't know who baked it but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cake was small but just enough for the 8 of us. :D
