Birthday Cake/Good Dessert for a child's birthday?

We will be at WDW July 19-30 and my son turns 10 during the trip. For part of the trip, we are joining 2 other families, for a total of 15. Could anyone suggest a good place to celebrate his birthday and have a fun treat afterwards, whether it is a cake or some other dessert. I thought of Beaches and Cream and then sharing a couple of Kitchen Sinks but didn't know if there were better options. I don't think we can cover the meal for the other 2 families but we will buy the birthday dessert(s). Any ideas? The other kids that will be there are 3 pre-teens/teens, another 10 year old, a 9 year old, 6 year old, 1 year old and 7 adults. Something casual and moderately priced is best. Or even some place that just serves dessert where we could go after a meal or for a snack would be great too!

We ate at the AK Rainforest Cafe for my DD 9th Birthday. We ordered her a volcano and they brought it out with what seemed to be the entire staff and starting singing way before our table, i guess as to have everyone in the restaurants attention, but by the time they got to us, she was wanting to crawl under the table. I wish I could post my pics, they are priceless. She had her face painted like a bird, from AK, and is trying to hide in her arms. The volcano is a huge desert w/ice cream in the middle and tall pieces of brownie around the outsides in the shape of a volcano, obviously, with a big sparkler sticking out the top, it's probable a foot and 1/2 tall. It was great, one of our best memories of that trip. Otherwise, the food was good, had pasta, DH had ribs. But, just an idea. Dena

Thanks - that's an idea....how many people do you think a Volcano will feed? We would have to order a couple of them...or maybe supplement with some other desserts.

They're only 4 of us, and we ate about half, maybe. Ate all the ice cream, too much brownie. Dena

The Kona Cafe at the Poly has the Kona Kone. Large waffle cone, filled with ice cream and lots of other goodies (it's been 4 years, but I seem to remember some cotton candy).

I love the KC, and I don't think it is as hard to get ADRs as it is at some restaurants at WDW, so you may be able to accomodate a large party easier. I try to go at least once a trip (including our upcoming one). If you are not staying at one of the Lagoon resorts (i.e., GF, Poly, WL or Contemp) try to time it so that you can watch the Electrical Water Parade on the lagoon after dinner (I think it is a the Poly at 9 PM)

you can have a cake delivered to any resturant in WDW. Some have small cakes at the resturant but the better ones can be delivered with your childs name and candles. You might want to go somewhere you can get ADR for that many (I dont think Beaches and Cream takes ADR)
