We're off to Florida for the first time at the end of March so I've been greatly enjoying dipping into this forum.

It will be my youngest daughter's 6th birthday just after we arrive so we're hoping to have a birthday tea for her. In you opinions what's the best place to go for this in Magic Kingdom. How far in advance do you have to book birthday cake and an indication of likely costs would also be useful. :)

I am have had my birthday at CRT and the cake there too, I have also booked crt for my dd birthday. There is also a cake thread on the restaurant section of the Dis it has prices and pics too

Happy planning.

Our son turned 7 whilst on holiday a good few years ago. We booked a character breakfast (Chef Mickey) and sneaked in a Mickey Mouse watch for Mickey to give him. This was done for him at the table and although Mickey is not allowed to touch the present (???) the waitress made sure that the gift appeared from Mickey. Everyone sung him a happy birthday and he had a small cake with a candle.
We then went into MK for the day where everyone made a fuss - shops called him over to the phone for birthday messages from characters, parade cast members made a bee-line for him etc.. We booked an early evening meal at Cinderella's Castle and (Pure luck admittedly) Cinderella escorted him to our table. Again another cake and candle along with a large card for us all to sign for him. We ended the day with Wishes fireworks!

It was a really realy LONG day, but truly magical day (for all of us!) and to this day he still thinks Mickey gave him the watch!

I would make sure that everywhere you go, staff are aware of his birthday!

Hope she has a fantastic day!

2 ways of ordering a cake, you can ring in advance and have something made special like we did or you can ask them for a standard round one when you enter the restaurant, this year they were $21 +tax +tip

We had one made for DS doing exceptionally well in his GCSE's pic in post #529 on my trip thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2524489&page=36
We paid $48+tax + $8 tip.

Spooky just got off the phone with WDW to order a birthday cake for Mrs.F and bottle of champagne for the surprise Illuminations Cruise I booked for NYD as its her 30+10 Birthday. Shhhhh don't tell :thumbsup2

PS: I have also ordered some warm weather for the next 2 weeks. The CM on the phone told me it had hit 80 today at WDW :cool1:

Just to add that reservations for restaurants open 6 months in advance.

If you haven't yet booked a reservation for a restaurant you can do so online on the wdw website.

Do you have a particular restaurant or character meal in mind?

If you don't fancy a whole cake you can get a chocolate slipper at cinderella's royal table at MK personalised with a message. There are pics on the thread Wayne linked to. Think they are less than $20.

Thanks for all you replies and the links. Lots of food for thought there (no pun intended). I don't have a particular restaurant in mind so will do a bit more reading. Leaning towards Chef Mickey or Cinderella.;) I'm sure she'll love it no matter where we go.

The popular restaurants like crt and chef mickey do book up quickly. People have been able to book since end September for your dates.

Have you checked if there is any availability online? Would hate for your DD to be disappointed on her birthday.
