As a very, very last minute thing, my Mother-in-law and I have decided to take my step-daughter to Disneyland for her 9th birthday. We took her to Walt Disney World for her 6th birthday and on her actual birthday we went to City Hall at Walt Disney World and they gave her a button that said it was her birthday. So everywhere we went in the park that day, people were wishing her happy birthday. She loved it!! Also, while at City Hall a CM goes "What was your name again?" she told the CM and then the CM goes "I think there is a phone call for you." My step-daughter got on the phone and it was Goofy wishing her a happy birthday. It was really funny and she thought it was really cool. Do they do something like this at Disneyland?

I know about being able to get birthday cakes at restaurants in Disneyland, which I will also do. But I really liked this button thing, and I hope they do that as well.

Does anyone know??

Last time we did a birthday at DL they only gave stickers at the Town Hall, however, we got a pin upon check in at the Grand Californian. I assume they do that at the other two hotels also. If you purchase a birthday bucket, which comes with a small cake, you get a pin with that.
Hopes this helps....it's my first post! :)
(I'll be spending my birthday at WDW this year, yeah!)

My DD celebrated her 6th birthday at Disneyland two weeks ago. They gave her a birthday sticker at City Hall. She talked to Goofy at Guest Services in California Adventure. A CM told us about that opportunity. She was excited to hear happy birthday from Goofy.

The Disneyland Hotel gave her a really nice birthday button on which the CM wrote her name and age. Goofy's Kitchen (which I highly recommend) also gave her a birthday button. She was just full of buttons and stickers that day. And everyone made a fuss over her. It was so nice. Oh, Build a Bear in Downtown Disney also gave her a birthday sticker.

Have a Magical Birthday trip. We did!

Just back from my 30th BD that was celebrated at DLR...same as above....got the sticker from City Hall, and I was greeted with a "Happy Birthday" by every CM! Blue Bayou sang "Happy Birthday" and gave me a free dessert!

Back at PP, the front desk gave me a pin that looked exactly like the sticker and a balloon, plus there was a mini-Mickey cake waiting for me in our room!

It was great! I thought I was 6 again, instead of 30!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I need to stop at City Hall and get the sticker. And I can also do something at a restaurant. I was already wanting to go to the Blue Bayou for lunch. Thanks again.

Sandygirl-did you build a bear? Can you give me an idea of what you do and the approx cost?

Yes, my DD built a bear. She had a gift certificate that we had been saving since Christmas. We were celebrating her 6th birthday so it was a combination gift.

She actually chose a dog to build. He is really cute. The cost of the animal itself is not bad, I think they ranged from $12 to $24. You choose an animal, they let you help stuff it with the blown stuffing. You can have it hard or soft. You can chose to have a sound mechanism inserted in the paw. My DD's dog now barks! You go through a little ceremony of placing the heart in the animal. When it is done, you fluff and brush the fur.

Then comes the expensive part: you choose clothing and accessories. DD chose a simple outfit, but then needed a leash and roller skates. You know a dog technically has 4 feet so that meant 4 tennis shoes and 4 roller skates. Trust me, it added up. You don't need to spend alot on clothes and accessories. I suggest you budget an amount and work within that budget when making your choices.

We did buy Disney Princess and Beast outfits for Christmas gifts for friends back home. They have an exclusive license to sell them at the DL Build A Bear. So I knew I would not have an opportunity to buy them again, and took advantage of being there.

Hope I answered your questions. It is a popular store, be prepared to wait in line. It is very cute, though.

Thanks-I think we'll take a peek when we are there!
