Hi all. I'll be spending my forty-fifth birthday at UO. Just a day trip over from WDW. It will be me, dh and our three kids, 8, 8 and 13. Any suggestions on how to make the day really special?

(1) Do what YOU want - not what the kids or DH want
(2) Meet YOUR favorite characters
(3) Go to the chocolate factory for something - dessert or meal on the way out

Just a heads up- we were told when we were there in February that they were out of birthday buttons and had no idea if/when they would get any more.

I did my best to tell every TM that it was my friend's birthday and while she didn't get anything special, she did get a lot of birthday wishes.

This. My number one suggestion is to buy yourself a birthday pin or make a birthday shirt because a lot more often than not, they have been out of the pins lately.

They found a birthday button for my son a few weeks ago. He didn't get anything special for it but did get a lot of happy birthdays, so that was fun! He had on a regular birthday pin from home at first but most people didn't notice it. A TM noticed it at Woody Woodpecker and found him a birthday button though. Once he had on that pin, then it was noticed a lot more and he did get a lot more happy birthdays. My daughter did her birthday trip yesterday. We were able to remove my son's name from the button and write hers. She got lots of happy birthdays and was told she could take express at RRR. However - express made it take longer since she was planning on single rider line anyway. So, if you get a perk like that, it may make sense to politely decline! The happy birthdays extend out from the normal TM ones. The talking fountain sang happy birthday to my son. They announced my daughter's birthday over the speaker when she was on MIB. So, little extras like that are really nice.

If you will be playing any carnival games, sometimes a birthday button will make your day more special ;)

Also, Mythos brought our daughter a birthday desert when she wore her birthday button.

The only thing guaranteed is happy birthday wishes, but you might find some extra Mummy Dust throughout the day.

How about dinner at Mama Dellas, if you like Italian it's the best I've had IMO and they have a guitarist and singer who walk around and serenade you with whatever song you like :)

anyone know if they still don't have these buttons on a regular basis? Or do they have them now safely? If not I'd make my own. I would rather spend my birthday at Disney because I've loved Disney waaaay longer than Universal, but the way our vacation works, my actual day this year (if we make it down there) will be at Universal
I'd try to make my own if it would mean that I'd have one with certainty.

but talk about excited to be able to spend my birthday on vacation!!! and my daughters is two weeks behind me, so I'll let her wear a button at the end of our vacation at Disney!

They have them now. I had a picture of all of the new 1st visit buttons too but...I killed my phone.
