Birthday at Universal

We're surprising my DD with a trip to US/IoA for her 11th birthday in December. Can anyone tell me anything special I might want to look into? We're staying onsite at Hard Rock December 2nd-7th with 4 day tickets. I'm sure some Christmas stuff will be going on, so that's a nice treat. Just wondering if they have birthday pins or will leave anything fun for her in the room if I let someone know we're celebrating? Any restaurants that have a fun birthday treat?

Stop by Guest Services at either park for a birthday button and make sure you tell the hotel you have a birthday person in your party. I think most table service restaurants provide a little something for the birthday person but wearing the button will help in the parks. You never know what goodies might appear.

We had a birthday girl on our last trip. The HRH sent up a piece of cake when we checked in, they also gave her a coupon for a free drink or food item at the pool. She was given a button at the turnstiles with here name on it (sharpie) when we told them it was her birthday. Both Mythos and Emerials sent out a birthday desert when we told them it was her birthday.

Things to look forward to with birthday button:

1. We got there at resort (HRH stay) opening and numerous people wished my husband Happy Birthday, from the entrance CMs to employees just standing around areas on the way back to FJ. They seemed to be looking out for birthday buttons and called out well-wishes from a distance on our way to the back of the park.

2. One employee that shouted birthday greetings said to stop in Honeydukes. He did and received a free cauldron cake.

3. This one is more random but a stop to refill our cups had an employee offering us one free refill in honor of my husband's birthday.

4. We ate lunch at Wolfgang Puck's and they brought DH a free cupcake.

Universal really provided the magic for my husband's birthday and he was incredibly psyched!

We were given 3 free butterbeers for our family. Also lots of TM's would say happy birthday and treat you real nice.

On MIB they announce our birthdays over the rides PA system and sang. Also happened on High Sky Trolly.

Most sit down food places will do something special.
