birthday at OKW

DS will be turning 6 during our visit to OKW in May. We've never stayed there (or any WDW resort) before; does anybody know if there are any birthday "perks" to be had while we're there, or any arrangements that we can make ahead of time?

If you let the front desk know they will send Ballons and a card to the room (free of charge). You can also order a cake from Olivia's if you want to

Really?! That is so cool! We're hoping to do a character meal also to celebrate, but that is something so new and different anyway that I don't know if it would register "birthday" to him. But balloons, THAT always says birthday and he'd be so surprised!

OKW gets big points with us for doing that! It was about the 9th resort we'd stayed in, celebrating many special events during the years. At check-in, I mentioned that we were celebrating DS's college graduation (finally!) The next day we came back to balloons and a signed postcard from Mickey. Even at 22 yo, DS appreciated it, and I really appreciated that OKW had done it without me asking.
