I'm just curious. Anyone know how they do the "birthday thing" at HDDMR? We'll be going there the night of my Son's 5th birthday. I'm going to order a cake and would like to sing him Happy Birthday and all that. I was just curious about how they go about doing that kinda stuff in there.

Thanks!

They ask if anyone is celebrating a birthday or anniversary and the crowd applauds, usually one of the performers comes to your table with the microphone.

The dessert is strawberry shortcake, I don't think you will have room for a cake.

They have a time in the show in which they recognize anyone that is celebrating something - it's really fun and cute. They don't do it like a regular restaurant would, it's part of the show.

I know people have called about ordering a cake there before and they've been discouraged as the show timing doesn't allow for serving one easily. I'm sure you can still do it, just know it'll be awkward to work into your time there. The only time i remember the show "stopping" for any amount of time is when the food is first served. They even perform during the arrival of dessert - it's part of the show as well. Once the show is over, you're ushered out fairly quickly so that they can clean up for the next show.

I think HDDR is a great place to celebrate a birthday but in a different way from other restaurants - it's a dinner show so it's not easy to have a personal party during it, make sense? If you want to do a big family time with cake and the birthday song, maybe you could do a big breakfast or lunch?

I bet he'll have a blast regardless - we love HDDR and it'll make him feel VERY special!

Ok, I get it. So maybe then I can do the cake thing at the TEB just after the show? Or maybe even later that night somewhere back in the MK. Where could you go and eat and just have dessert?

We are doing HDR on my sons 9th birthday in August. He has no idea it's really for him. We have told the kids we are planning the trip for our friends.

When I asked about the birthday thing at HDR they said that maybe they would use him on stage during the show. They asked last year and he said no way, way to shy. Hopefully this year he will go for it. He's come out of his shell so much since them. :)

We did Hoop Dee Doo for DS's 13th birthday. I had told them when we made our reservations about his b'day. They shined a spotlight on him and yes one of the performers comes to the table. It was SUCH a fun time! You won't regret going there for your child's birthday!
