Birthdat at Disney

Both my husband and my daughter (7) will have a birthday while we are at Disney. I was wondering what sort of special thing to do, especially for my daughter, since she thinks she is having a big bday bash and doesn't know we won't be at home for the special occasion. Are there any restaurants that are fun for bdays or any other special thing to do that any of you who live in the area and frequent the parks know about. I don't have a lot of $$$ to spend, but I was hoping to maybe get a cake and go to a restaurant where the staff will make a big deal about the bday thing. Any help would be much appreciated.

From what I understand Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel is a good place to spend a birthday. I also remember reading something in my 2002 Birnbaums guide about a special button or nametag that indicates it's your childs birthday that they can wear in the park. ( I don't think I dreamed it) Ha. It seems like you could purchase a cake at Goofy's Kitchen and they would sing to your child. I'll try to recheck my sources and post back with some concrete info. Maybe someone else has some additional info.

Goofy's kitchen will do a birthday party thing. I think you need to let them no 24 hours in advance. It's character dining, and buffet. I think it's $5 extra per person (it might just be $5 extra, but I think it was per person, don't remember). You get birthday hats, I think balloons, and don't remember what else (never done it, but been there when other had done it and we asked a couple of years ago when we went on or near one of our birthdays) (can't remember which one it was condsidering I'm Dec 11, daughter is Dec. 4, and her dad is Dec. 14, so those 10 days tend to blur together)

We did take daughter to DL last year for her birthday (we'll be going this year right before her birthday), and they gave her a little sticker with her name on it. We went back and got another one, and kept that one as a souvineir. I think that the more visible, the more interaction you will get.

I rechecked the info, and it is $5 per person at Goofy's Kitchen. You can also order a cake at the Plaza Inn (5 days in advance)in DL. They will sing to the Birthday person. The characters are only available for breakfast at the Plaza Inn. Hope the info helps.

Forgot to mention this. At goofy's kitchen you can still go for your birthday, you just don't get the hat, balloons, cake? whatever they do. But you can tell them whose birthday it is and the might do a little something, you just won't have all of the party type stuff that they do.

When you go into Disneyland, Go to City Hall and get Birthday Name tags. I found CMs wishing me B-day and you have to go on small wold it was great fun. On where to eat-- its a personal thing-- I like the Blue Bayou. As an adult I have celebrated there several times. My young cousin and I celebrated there together. It is a bit pricey but beautiful

We just came back from DL earlier this month. Our DD turned 6 while we were there. When we got to DL, we stopped by the Guest Relations building to get her a birthday sticker. The CMs were then very cognizant of her birthday and called out "Happy Birthday" to her everywhere. That was special.

We also took her to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner. We didn't do the extra $5. charge for party hats, etc. (What she didn't know about, she didn't miss!) We thought the dinner was expensive enough, especially with our lousy Canadian $$$ exchange rate. Anyhow, She enjoyed herself immensely! All the princesses came up to our table and wished her happy birthday. She ate sooo much because she really liked the children's buffet. We highly recommend Goofy's Kitchen for the fun factor, the characters, the characters dancing and entertaining the children, and the good food.
