I'm looking for something to gift the kiddos before we go that can let them "help" us with our touring plans. My local B&N doesn't have this in stock, so I can't flip through it before I buy it - was wondering if anyone had feedback on the 2016 version? I know its for marketed for 8-12 year old range, but would it appeal to a 5 year old? She can read, so that's not an issue.

We have Birnbaum's 2013 Walt Disney World: The Official Guide, may DD was 5 then. Each edition just adds the update info. I read it and thought it was very helpful. She enjoyed the photos, she could read it, but I felt it was more pointers and recommendations, except for the ride descriptions. After going through book, we looked up some of the ride videos on YouTube (i.e. EE, Dinosaur) to see if she would ride them.

I don't know about the Birnbaum's for kids, but we purchased Walt Disney World Guide to the Magic for Kids by Tim Foster on Amazon for our August 2015 trip. DS and DD were 4 and 6 when we gave it to them for Christmas to announce the trip and they spent hours pouring through it and then we took it on the trip with us to document our days. They still pull it out and look at it. There are descriptions and pictures of the rides, places for them to put stickers after they've done them and space to comment and rate the rides. There are also pages in the back for autographs and a place to keep track of weather, meals, rides, souvenirs and other memories of the trip for 14 days. I'm not sure if it's been updated because a few rides have closed or opened since then, but my kids really loved it (and still do)!

will be above her reading level but our 3.5 year old granddaughter loved it and read the pictures a lot. our 10 year old grandson felt it was too babyish for him and wanted an adult book. granted it was last years but would guess it does not change that much

Thank you, that sounds like just the right level of content we were looking for.

We took out the 2015 version from the library and weren't impressed. The photos were small and the activities were more geared to the 7 and up set. My boys (4 & 1.5) were more excited by the planning DVD, park specials on Hulu and youtube.
