birnbaum

Yes they Do... Is it Worth buying is up To You.
I think With the boards And This site u can Learn Just as much
www.dcltribute.com Check out Daves list of Links for other great Site to check out...

i was very disappointed in birnbaum's cruise guide. however, i really like the one by passporter. :teleport: :earboy2:

I have both and IMO the Passporter Guide is far superior than the Birnbaum. Birnbaum is more "fluff" whereas the Passporter has valuable information that along with the DIS board provides all you need to know about DCL.

I have both--the Passporter is very good, the Birnbaum is disappointing. Not much critical or inside on Birnbaum's, could have been published by Disney from the look of it. As for comments that you can find that you can learn as much from the DIS board as the Passporter book, that might in fact be true, but it is all organized and handy and portable in the Passporter book--the better for DW, who is not a patholigical internet junkie to use for cruise prep.

Birnbaums is published by Disney...hence the fluff and lack of criticism!

Does anyone know if there is much different between the old Passporter and the new edition that came out this year?

I have the newest (second edition) and from what I can tell there is minimal differences between the two...even my second edition was "outdated" on certain information as DCL changes quickly. For example, when the second edition was published in April 2004 DCL still offered the soda program, still had the Mexicali/Tropical nights, etc. which were changed in mid-summer. If you purchase a copy of the passporter DCL you are able to register it at their website and then receive updates via the webpage...it's easy to do also.

I am jumoing in because my DB is going for the first time and I think this will be great if he reads and understands better. He is nervous about being on a boat and not being able to get off. Tried to tell him it is HUGE, but would be better if he read more. Where can I get the passporter?

When Steve Birnbaum was alive, was he under the employ of Disney back then too?

I always thought he was an independent. He published so many other travel items.

I don't know for sure, but Hyperion Books, a divison of Disney, currently publishes the Birnbaum Disney guides now.
