Ok, I've decided to buy a pair of birkenstocks. I'm going to order them online but I need help with european sizing. I'm a very regular 6 1/2 medium. The conversion charts generally say that I need a european size 37. But the charts differ a little.

Does anyone have any information that would help me decide if this is in fact the size for me? Did anyone use the standard conversion charts and end up with a size that they did not think was right?

Thanks!

I buy ecco shoes over the internet - absolutely love them!

:D

I normally wear a size 9 ( I know - I'm bigfoot!). The European conversion is a 40 and they have worked quite well for me.

Also Birkenstocks come in a regular and narrow width. I ordered some from QVC and was surprised to see that the box was marked "narrow" and on their website they do not offer a choice. I called and asked about it and they said that all they sell is the narrow birkenstocks because, according to them, americans found the "regular" Birks too wide and didn't like them. They don't tell you this on their website though (they have a great selection and return policy however). I've found I can wear both o.k. but I dislike ordering them over the internet because of the fit issue.

I wear a 37 in Birkenstocks..... a size 7 in American size.

I always wear my Birks in the parks..... to me they are better than sneakers. BUT they are well broken in, and I so suggest you not wear a brand new pair, make sure they are well broken in before you go !!!

Have fun on your trip, and with your new shoes :bounce:

I'm a size 7 and all my Birks are size 37 regular width :)

I think they'll be the most comfortable for me to walk in all day in the parks. I did buy some tevas in case of rain though, but I love my Birks ;)

I'm a size 8 & wear a 37 Berkie. I'd advise buying them from QVC. First, the price is very good. Next, if you need to exchange the size, they will not charge you additional shipping.

I love my berkies!

I own about 5 or 6 pairs and only use qvc...can't beat it even if you don't like them send them back within 30 days but take plenty of time to break them in...

This might not help. But I've been able to buy birks at Costco (price club or like a sam's club) on a few occasions. They don't have a huge selection of styles but they did have the basic ones. That way you can at least try them on. I also have a birk store near me- you should check maybe you have one in your area and don't even know it.

I do suggest really breaking them in before you go to the parks. They need some time to mold to your feet.

I hope this helps a little.

I'm a size 7-size 37 birkie. I usually hit Belz outlet mall and buy my birkies at the Birkenstock outlet store there. Pick up a couple of pairs every trip!

You're kidding......there's a Birks outlet there? How much are you paying for Birks there usually? I've got to go there and buy some new ones ;)

They have clearance bins-I paid $20 for a pair at Easter and
I also paid $69 for a nice leather pair with a strap around the heel. They have all types-clogs, straps, widths, different colours like pink and lime green (great DIS colour), as well as the usual white brown black variety, men's women's and children's. I feel more comfortable trying them on there and then buying because different styles do fit differently.

I also wear 6 1/2, sometimes 7. I wear regular width 37 in Birkenstocks. I do prefer to try them on, however, when buying. I bought one pair from QVC and I just haven't enjoyed them. Nothing wrong with the shoe, the footbed is fine, like all the others. They just had a different style that had a strap that hit me in a funny place on one foot (not the fault of the shoe). If I had tried them on first, I probably would not have purchased this particular style.

I wear a 7 and typically wear a 37 in Birks. In the clogs I wear a 37N, but in sandals I usually take regular width. I would really recommend trying a pair on before you buy them. Different styles fit differently. I usually am a Birk wearer at WDW. I think I found something better though. I got a pair of Keens recently and I absolutely love them! They are even more comfortable than Birks and they are waterproof. They seem to be the ideal Disney shoe. I will be bringing them on my next trip for sure. I got them at Zappos.com I would check them out.
