I may have an obsessesion with "feed the birds" . Id love to take a feeder along with us on our Oregon-Orlando maiden voyage next Jan. Would that be allowed at the Fort? I've heard they have don't feed the wildlife signs pretty prevalently posted. How about hummingbird feeders? I'm so in love with those little buggers.

I feed the squirrels and turkeys. I don't feed them in mass abundance however. I have seen other campers with bird feeders around the Fort, but not hummingbird feeders.

The signs do ask not to feed them, but I am guilty of enjoying wildlife.

We always have the bird feeder out, and get lots of birds. There are not suppose to be any hummingbirds in that part of Florida, but this winter we saw one.

I feed my backyard birds year round. I was wondering if I could bring a feeder. We do at state parks.

Well, the sign on the table at every site clearly says "do not feed wildlife" so are birds wildlife? Also by feeding you're introducing seeds to the area which, in turn, could become invasive, non-native plant species.... just a thought...

This was my thought too. While most of us love to see the wildlife at the Fort, they often don't want you to feed them as some may become "Dependent upon the kindness of strangers" (:tilt:)

I think bird feeders are a bit different, however many of them also attract other wildlife. :squirrel:

I follow that rule. I never feed them from the picnic table.

I think you are all right! I wasn't thinking of it that way. In my own yard the feeders drop seeds and sprout grasses. I'll bird watch the old fashioned way.
I may......be way over thinking this trip and how excited I am.
Thank you for talking it through with me.

Direct face to face contact is always a better tactic
I was going refer everyone to your Thread in The Camping Community entitled "YOU KNOW I'M A SQUIRREL GUY" So everyone would seek your advice and wisdom and nutritional requirements and standards for THE NSS ' But it looks like like you have it well in hand

I don't feed the critters around here at home and never have or will feed them at FW...... PERIOD!!!
