I'm at WDW right now. I met a family on the bus who said they went to the DVC presentation, didn't buy, but said they pretended to be seriously interested b/c they heard you could get "bionic FPs that are better than the YOMD lanyards." They were bragging about how great yesterday had been for them b/c of these "bionic FPs" as kept calling them.

?????????????

Was this guy blowing smoke or is DVC really doing something like this at the moment?

We went to the presentation in April. We got fastpasses, I don't know if they were bionic, though.
When we used, we got to walk right on. No waiting at all. But they were only good for 3 rides each.
We actually didn't even get a chance to use them all up. And, we did buy.

Maybe they were talking about the FP that are good for 3 rides. You get a FP to ride immediately but it's only good for 3 rides. We got those from our DVC rep when we did the tour.

Awful waste of time for a FP, if they weren't really serious to begin with. With the time they spent on the tour, and getting there and back, they could have waited for a ride or two :confused3

We got the fast passes too. 3 rides each, One ended up not being activated but the people at the kiosks gave up paper passes and it was ok .

We did the presentation a couple of weeks ago. It was a perfect a/c place for DS (18 mo) to nap and we are considering DVC although we haven't bought yet. We got the FP's, but didn't end up using them all. If I had realized they were bionic, though, who knows what I could have done! :confused3 ;)

My thoughts exactly as I read this. Spend a couple hours on a tour just to save some time waiting for a ride?

Hey...the important thing is that THEY thought they really did a great thing. Sometimes it's funny to watch people leap over dollars to pick up nickels. ::yes::

I hope I get FP when I take the tour in July! I am going to scope it out as I am very interested in buying DVC but still have to talk DH into it. I was going to do the tour in July and then bring him in for a tour when he accomapanies me on a trip in January.

I didn't know they gave you something for doing the tour.:cool1:

Hmmm....our presentation was only an hour or so as I remember (just long enough for DS's nap). It was the one actually in the MK...not at SSR. I've done the one at SSR before because I wanted to see the room mock-ups and get the info, but we got three $25 gift cards (one per person) when we did that. I wouldn't waste that much time - especially on a park day - for 3 fast passes.

We too, got the three ride Fast Passes when we took the SSR Tour in April. If you are really interested in DVC the Fast Passes are a nice touch to compensate you for your time.

we were there at Christmas and we were interested in seeing AKV. They give you a special card that you insert into the FP machine to get an instant FP. They have 3 rides per person and are good for 3-4 days after the tour. We used ours the next day. That was nice at such a crowded time. We were able to ride Soarin right away, ride Space Mtn at MK right away at 1 PM after we hopped. One note--if FP have run out--you can't get an instant one.
Unless I had a lot of time to kill, it would not be worth it to take the tour if you have no interest in DVC.

I heard Toy Story Mania has regularly been 120-180 minute stand by lines since it opened. There's you tour time back on just that one ride.

For me the Fast Passes were not the motivation. I wanted to find out about DVC and I think what ended up the main motivation in the end was the idea that we could use our points for a cruise, but the Fast Passes were definitely nice. I ended up using all of mine for Soaring which meant that I could ride it 3 times in an hour.

When we took the DVC tour in the summer of '06, we also got those special instant fast passes. We each got one - and each had three instant fast pass uses on it.

If BLT rooms are open to tour in July, we'll probably take the tour again to see the models. I doubt we'll be able to add on any time soon, but it would be nice. Anyway, I wonder if we'll get instant fast passes or any compensation for taking an "add-on tour." (anyone know?)

I'm gonna say that no, you would probably not get special FP if you are already a member and are only looking for an add-on. But, hey you never know!
