Biometrics

Is a picture ID necessary? My driver's license does not have my photo. I use my passport at the airport, but I wear a small waist pouch in the parks and I didn't want to carry my passport ever day.

I've never been asked for ID at the gates, so I don't know if it has to be a photo ID.

Do all NJ licenses have no pics, or is yours an older one? I thought all 50 states had started putting pics on licenses over the last few years.

At any rate, picture ID is a pretty important thing these days, so I'd recommend that you head over to the DMV and get yourself a new license with pic if they are available.

Just wanted to comment that my AP only worked correctly ONCE all of last week, maybe its my hand that the biometrics has probs with (I was following directions, promise!) but I would have to say about half of everyone seemed to be having probs too. The CMs working the entrance, though kind as always, seemed quite frustrated. Hope they work out the kinks soon!

We didn't have any problems anywhere last week with the biometrics. Last year when we had our AP's they never worked right!

Of the three of us, my dh was the only one who ever had a problem at the turnstyles!!! Even dd, 11, had no issues. But, dh was never asked for an ID. They just waved him through. Maybe it was since there were three of us with the same last name. Maybe if he had been by himself it would have been different.

I would rather be one of the 30 nonproblem people that arent being groaned at.
Again ... admirable. And if there were only one or two turnstiles, I'd agree. But with 25 going at the same time, I still think you're worrying for nothing.

Then again, if the biometrics are all you're worrying about at this point, you're doing pretty good! :teeth:

I am just the type of person that is always completely prepared for everything. I will not leave anything to chance. This is our very first trip to WDW and I want it to be as magical as it can be for my kids. DD and DS have no clue how much planning I have put into this trip. I have checked, double checked and triple checked everything, then checked it again. Been planning the trip for about 11 months now.
After all this I still feel like I am forgettting something. :( The ID's are just one of the few things I still have to do. I am wayyyy too organized. DW says I'm neurotic. Believe it or not I am going to show DD and DW how to use the Biometric scanners before we get to the lines.
And now, before anyone starts thinking that I am a dictator here at my house and my kids live in terror of me freaking out if their socks arent folded in their drawers... I'm not like that. :) They are their own person. I try to instill good values in them but I dont push it down their throats. :) They are going to grow up different than me and I know that. And that might be a good thing.

Just remember - sometimes the most magical moment is unplanned. ;)

Have a fantastic trip.

Dan, I agree. It is nice to be knowledgeable but it's great to be able to go with the flow when you are in WDW.

You will have a magical experience if you allow yourself to forget about the cares of the world and just be a kid again.

As of now pictures are required but I had an old license which I renewed which didn't have a picture (couldn't face the thought of going to MV everytime I needed a new license). However, the next time I renew I will re required to get a picture on it. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get a new one now (although I think I still have about 4 years to go before renewal).
