Is Disney World using the bio scan on children for MYW tickets. We have children who are very hesitant to do things that may seen scary to them. How does it work.

I don't think that they do it for children 9 and under. The bioscan looks at bone structure and with little children, bone structure changes very quickly.

To do the bioscan, you make a "peace sign" with your index and middle fingers. You then place those two fingers into the scanner and give a slight squeeze. It's easy and painless. AP holders have been doing this for years.

Last trip we all had APs, me, DH, DD12 and DD9. My older DD had an "adult" ticket and so she had to do the bioscan, along with me and my DH. My younger daughter must have felt left out because each time she put her ticket through she pretended to do the bioscan. (She actually put her fingers on the scanner, it just wasn't reading anything.) She loved it and thought it was cool. I don't think it seems scary at all. But she isn't one to be normally scared easily.

What is the bioscan, do they use it, and why?? Thanks :)

My understanding is that the bio scan is being done to stop people from selling unused days to someone else. In other words, only the original user can use the rest of the days on that pass. I think I read somewhere that if you are in a group, they file all of your bioscans together when you first use your passes - so it will work, even if you mix your tickets up amongst the original users. Anybody know about that? There will be four of us (all adults) on our trip in December, and it would be great if only one person had to keep track of all four passes.

What if you are missing your index finger on one hand. Will the reader allow the person to use their middle and ring finger? And if so, will they need to use the same fingers for both hands? DW battled cancer when she was 17 and they had to remove her right index finger. I'm sure she can just show ID but she doesnt like to look at this as a disability. She would rather use the scanner.

As long as she uses the fingers on her other hand every time it won't be a problem.
