Billy Preston has died...

At the age of 59. He had been in a coma since November. He had such hits as "Will it go "round in circles." and "Nothing from Nothing" he was thought as the 5th Beatle because he soothed tensions when they were getting ready to break up, and went on their last Live session before thier breakup. He also wrote the song: "You are so Beautiful" which was a hit by Joe Cocker and recently sung by Taylor Hicks on AI.

OH no! I am admin of the official George Harrison site and I'm just finding this out! Billy was a wonderful friend to George and a very sweet man. This is very sad news.

I saw him with George on the Dark Horse tour, ( now you know I'm old!) and he was wonderful. You can also see him on the newly released and completely redone "Concert For Bangladesh"

Billy was a very spiritual and kind man. So sad to see him pass. I know he hasn't been well for some time and had to be taken by ambulance to a hospital at an event recently. Good bye Billy. You will be sorely missed. Blessings to Dhani and Olivia. I know they will miss their dear old friend.

A sad loss for music and for all of us. Take a look at the Concert For Bangla Desh movie and watch him perform "That's The Way God Planned It"--you can definitely see "the light" in him. He was the only "outsider" to ever perform live with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

I remember being in high school EEOONS ago and my best friend Lynn telling me about the BAD new song out....

"I got a dance that ain't got no steps... I got a song that ain't got no melody..."

I remember laughing and singing "I got a friend that ain't got no sense!"

I smile whenever I hear that song because she was my best friend for over 40 years and I just lost her to a serious mental illness recently. I STILL regret singing that song...

God rest you, Billy Preston. You gave this old girl a lot of good memories and fun!

Billy's performance of this song at "The Concert For Bangledesh" was so wonderful!! It's a song he and George used to sing together. Grimley and Micca, they is a wonderful reunion going on tonight in heaven. *Hugs*
