So sad.

RIP Billy Mays. :(

--
Some details may be emerging in his death...

He had a rough landing yesterday:
He wrote on his Twitter yesterday "Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."

And also supposedly he told a FOX station in Tampa after he got off the plane that something struck him during the flight: "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."
The FAA said he did not wear a seat belt during his flight.

Very creepy reading that back now. It may be a factor in his death...

I really liked the guy.

Have been watching Pitchmen and he seemed like a genuine guy.

Maybe a similar situation to Natasha Richardson, where the hit to the head was harder than he thought and there were complications afterward? I'm probably one of those odd people who thought, although he yelled much too loud, he was pretty darn good at what he did.

I feel terrible for his family to have it be so unexpected.

I thought about Natasha Richardson when I heard about his flight landing issues, too. :confused3

I feel so bad for his family.

So sad to hear of this. My DS7 loves him and always wants us to buy his products.

What is going on? That is sad news. I really think it sounds related... the rough landing. Hitting head???

DH and DS have been loving Pitchmen. So sorry for his family.

First, how in the heck would the FAA know if he was or wasn't wearing his seat belt? And second, even if he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, what does that have to do with things falling on him from the overhead compartment? Sounds like some CYA by US Air to me.

I loved the show Pitchmen. Way too young to die. May he rest in peace.

Thats exactly what I though.

RIP Billy. :sad1:
This past week has really been so sad for showbiz. I hope this is it.

My boss lives in the same condo that he does (did :guilty: ) in South Tampa Bay and I had the pleasure of meeting Billy on several occasions.

I'm the first to admit that his commercials could be a bit on the annoying side, but in person the man was the most kind, friendly and out going person you could ever hope to meet.

It's such an unexpected loss, in a month filled with unexpected losses.

I pray his family finds the strength they will need to carry on.

I have watched all the Pitchmen episodes. I used to think he was annoying, but after seeing him on that show and seeing his real personality and "normal" voice.. I thought he was a very nice guy and very caring as well. I was very sad to hear the news of his death and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. I glad they made the Pitchmen series as it let everyone see who he really was and get to know him a bit more than the informercial personality we all see everyday.
