Our wedding was on April 23, and we stayed on property from April 22 through April 27. During this time, we used our credit card to pay the remainder of our balances and a few times on dining. Our tours and most of our ADRs were already paid for (via the same credit card) months earlier.

On May 1, I was checking my credit card and noticed a charge from Disney that I did not recognize. I eventually found the billing inquiry number for Disney (407.828.5630 in case anyone needs it) and asked them about the charge.

They were able to trace it back to DFTW but couldn't tell what the charge was for. We ended up circling back with my planner, who eventually told me that the charge was an error and that it will be credited back to me.

On the one hand, that they're going to credit this back to me! On the other, it's a little :scared1: that if I didn't know my Disney charges down to the dollar, I wouldn't have noticed the charge. It wasn't a big amount, only $48.50, but it's the principle of the thing, you know?

In conclusion, even Disney isn't infallible. Brides, make sure you keep track of all your pre-wedding, wedding, and honeymoon events. Keep receipts from dinner and sourvenirs (just throw 'em into an envelope and look at it when you get home). I don't blame Disney for making a mistake, and they definitely stepped up when I asked them to look into it, but it's definitely better to be aware.

P.S. I suppose this is true of anything you use your credit card for, not just Disney and not just for weddings! I guess it's true of any time you use your card! OK, maybe I should go post this on the Budget Board too. :goodvibes

I was at Disney the same week and was accidentally charged for an extra room night. They said it was because our original reservation was made online and then I tried to change it over the phone, but that makes no sense to me. Anyway, they'd already credited the extra night back to me by the time I looked at the receipts a few days later, but that was $150, so I wholeheartedly agree!

I always do that anyway, keep my receipts in an envelope and check them online when i get back!

Good to know Disney sorted it quickly though!

Oops thats just reminded me I think I was charged twice for a spa treatment at GF in Nov but I've been really busy since I came home moving house and jobs and things so forgot about it. Do you think its too late to chase it up?

I recommend when you give them your credit card number on the form make sure and note that they are only aloud to charge for authorized amounts.... it states on there to give them permission to charge you for everything additional or related to the wedding-- but I made it perfectly clear that the card was only to be charged after I was contacted and I had to sign for every single transaction. I forget the funny wording they had when you give them your credit card agreement but it was something to the effect of they will use the card to charge all additional transactions-- yadda yadda (i found it to be a wordage loophole to charge you for things you might not have agreed to). So I completely agree with the OP-- BEWARE:scared1: And make sure you make your stand known when you give them your credit card and make sure you know of EVERYTHING before they actually charge it.

Yikes, that is a heck of a wordage loophole! The kicker of the thing is that if you signed a statement like that with DFTW or any store/vendor and you found an error and tried to have it fixed.... if they were to say that it wasn't an error/that they wouldn't correct it, you probably would loose filing a dispute with the CC company. Because you signed a paper agreeing to 'all necessary additional charges' / unspecified future amounts.

thanks so much for the warning ladies! I will definitely remember to keep track in detail after all is said and done. And, like Maggie advised, I'll probably ask that they contact me for any other charges other than what I agree upon initially...

DH was the one who had the big problem with this considering he works in Finance for a living and can see where this wordage could lead to future complications. Luckily I dont think it would-- but we didnt want to allow it incase things did happen. We actually waited nearly 3 days and were late on sending in our credit card agreement and payment because we were dealing back and forth with DFTW on how to approach this payment wise. We wanted to stick it on our Disney Visa (for points) but didnt want them to have our credit card number with such statements on it as that. So we did put our number on it and we wrote on there specifically that it was not to be used unless we authorized each and every transaction and that card was only for that transaction alone-- we both signed and dated it, made copies, and told them that we had a copy of it. WE probobly went overboard but we werent taking any chances.

I dont think anyone has anything to be worried about but its good to be cautious just in cause! I dont feel as though DFTW would ever steal but sometimes things are added by mistake. We were concerned that they would charge us for something we did infact agree to, but we wouldnt know it had been charged. We like to know where our money is at all times.

GL and congrats all!:thumbsup2
