Good Grief, Bill O'Reiley is still banging the "liberals hate Christmas drum" on his show tonight. Doesn't this guy have anything else to talk about? OR...could it be that it's more of the radical rabid right's effort to REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT something to death so people will actually begin to believe it?

He even admitted that he called EVERY SINGLE Cardnal and Archbishop in the United States before he could find ONE who was willing to come on his lame show and regurgitate his rhetoric of Christmas hate. And, I quote Father Michael Sheehan, Archbishop of Santa Fe New Mexico, when O'liely asked him "Who do you think is behind the secualr humanism?", he replied , "Those who don't have any religious values..."

Yeah RIGHT! What arrogance. Ok, so Father Sheehan is one nut in hundreds that O'Liely couldn't convince to come and agree with him, but what is O'liely's excuse?

Never mind, the thinking people know - REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT long enough and the sheep will begin to feel persecuted against and more fear will breed in them and where there is fear, there are people to easliy manipulate. So, what's in it for O'Liely? Perhaps he's being paid like Armstong Williams and Margie Gallager? humm.....

Hope he takes some time out from his crusade to spend some time with his family this Christmas season. It would be a shame if he was so busy telling others how to spend their holidays that he misses it himself.

My MIL said to me last night that she couldn't believe the vatican had not come out to support this. I turned to her and said, "Don't you think there are bigger things for the Vatican to worry about? Like starving people in 3rd world countries? Or the mentally disturbed priest within? Or the current war?"

Bill may believe in Christmas, but I do not think Jesus believes in Bill. ;)

With the exception of the priests, thats not the vatican's business.

Amen.

Dont you ever wonder what God thinks of people like him? I cant imagine God thinking bad things about people, but I sure dont know what good he would see in him either?

Wow...looks like Mr. O'Reilly isn't the only one on a hateful rampage! (Although I think he has good reason for saying what he is saying...and I'm not a sheep, nor am I fearful). Why do you watch his show if it makes you so upset?

Don't reall think that's for us to decide... :confused3

It is not my decison. I offered an opinion. Please tell me you see a difference.

Well...you made the decision that you think you know who Jesus believes and does not believe in. Yes, I'm not an idiot--I know the difference between an opinion and a decision--but whether it's your "opinion" that you know who Jesus believes in, or whether it's your "decision" that you believe in this, seems like a silly semantics issue to me.

Bill may believe in Christmas, but I do not think Jesus believes in Bill.

That needs to be on a T-shirt.

Because I don't shelter myself by viewing/reading only media that I agree with.

Have to disagree. As the leader of the Catholic Church, the vatican's thoughts and contemplation should be on all issues that affect the well being of God's people world wide. Silence and inaction where it is needed is sin (and on occasion they have been guilty of both).
But considering this issue (the condemnation of private businesses for having the audacity to wish their customer's a "happy holiday"), they are right to ignor the "non-issue".

I though Bill really captured the true spirit of Christ when he said he wanted to "bring pain" to those who didn't celebrate Christmas

You know this and you watched him anyway. Why? So you could make a post? No I did not watch the show, so I knew nothing about this until this thread.

Nice to hear from all the Nicholas Kristof/NYT fans again. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you. May this season, which is dedicated to peace on earth and good will toward all men, actually bring a little of each to all of us.

How do you figure? The Catholic church lends aid to thousands of people throughout the world. They have missionaries in most 3rd world countries distributing medicine, food, water. Of course they care about world hunger. And they also play an active part in the oncoming war. Bush met with Pope John Paul II twice to discuss among other things the current war in Iraq. While they may not have people there fighting in the name of the Vatican I do believe they are concerned about the deaths of our soilders and the Iraqi people.

No it is not a silly semantics issue. A person (name that religion) who tells someone they are going to rot in hell if they do not accept that religion IS judging. I am saying that if I had to hazard a guess, Bill O"Reilly will not be on the "A" list to get into heaven.

By the way, I do believe in what the above poster said about this issue - I don't think O'Reilly believes what he says, he is INTENTIONALLY causing a controversy to sell stuff on his website.

It's odd that people keep throwing out this alleged quote that O'Reilly never said. :confused3 After doing some research, I believe this is the quote that has everyone up in arms. It is from O'Reilly's December 2nd radio show.
I am not going to let oppressive, totalitarian, anti-Christian forces in this country diminish and denigrate the holiday and the celebration. I am not going to let it happen. I'm gonna use all the power that I have on radio and television to bring horror into the world of people who are trying to do that. And we have succeeded. You know we've succeeded. They are on the run in corporations, in the media, everywhere. They are on the run, because I will put their face and their name on television, and I will talk about them on the radio if they do it. There is no reason on this earth that all of us cannot celebrate a public holiday devoted to generosity, peace, and love together. There is no reason on the earth that we can't do that. So we are going to do it. And anyone who tries to stop us from doing it is gonna face me.

Yes, bringing "horror" is so much better than "pain".
