Bikes and Beach Chairs at HHI

Has anyone who has driven to HHI taken their own bikes or beach chairs instead of renting them there? I assume for your bikes you just bought locks for them and used bike racks at the resort? We are also thinking of bringing our own beach chairs and transporting them to the beach each day by driving and parking at the Beach House. Has anyone done this? Are we crazy???

(We are trying to make this a budget-friendly trip, and renting these seems a little outrageous.)

I can't speak to bringing your own bikes, but using your own beach chairs and umbrella would be very doable. Parking is close, and there's easy access to the beach at the Beach House. You're not close to crazy.

Bringing your own bikes and beach equipment is fine. There are bike racks around the resort and many will just lock them up outside their building. You can drive to the beach or even take the resort shuttle (depending on the amount of gear you plan to bring). There will be quite a few personal umbrellas and chairs down at the beach.

We are here right now and the beach has been wonderful! We've been biking down twice a day for a couple of hours - watching the dolphin just offshore as well as the osprey "fishing" for dinner! The surf temp is now about 80.

We just left HHI yesterday and we brought our own chairs and umbrellas. Never a problem with parking and taking our stuff on the beach. Kids rode bikes over that we rented As we drove all the way from the Chicago area we did not want to bring bikes but we saw lots of people who did.
