MY WIFE AND I RECENTLY STAYED AT THE BOARDWALK. I NOTICED THEY RENTED BIKES. I LIVE IN FLORIDA 2 HOURS FROM DW. I INQUIRED AS TO WHETHER I COULD BRING MY OWN BIKE TO USE WHILE WE WERE THERE. THE STAFF SAID HE SAW NO PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF ANYBODY OUT THERE HAS BROUGHT THEIR BIKES TO ANY DISNEY RESIRT TO USE.

I think I would call and double check....I've only seen the surrey bikes on the boardwalk. The do have other places that have bike paths though....

I was told you could ride the rented bikes on the BoardWalk but didn't think about asking if you could bring your own bike.

I think only surrey bikes are allowed on the boardwalk. I believe you can ride regular bikes along the path to MGM.

I have rented a bike (and helmet, never ride without one) at BWV as well as VB. I never had any problem riding along the BW on the bike. I certainly think I have more control over a bicycle than some of the surrey riders, especially coming down the hills where the surreys can build up quite a head of steam. In any case, I usually ride in the morning when the BW is lightly trafficked. I actually wish Community Hall would open earlier so I could ride even earlier in the day.

Although I have riden around the BW as part of a morning ride, I prefer to ride the pathway up to the parking lot by MGM (bicycles are not permitted into the parking lot and beyond) and the sidewalk around the perimeter roads (Epcot Resorts Blvd and Buena Vista Drive) aound the Epcot resorts. You cannot ride on these roads, but this sidewalk is also very lightly used (I seldom encounter anyone else, but stay alert and give an audible warning as you approach and pass any walkers). There is one short section just beyond the BCV where you need to ride on the grass because there is no sidewalk (there is an obvious pathway worn in the grass). The rented bikes work well for this, since they are Mongoose with large diameter balloon tires (and only one speed, but the landscape is so flat that I've never missed my 21-speed hybrid bike).

I have seen cars and vans with bicycles on carriers in the lot and garage at VB, so certainly some visitors have brought their own to this resort. I've not seen the same at BWV. My main concern at both BWV and VB would be bike security, even with the bike locked to a carrier. In any case, I don't think the Epcot Resorts area is worth more than an hour's ride for the exercise. The landscape is pleasant but not particularly distinguished. I understand that riding in the Fort Wilderness area can be much more interesting, but that requires a drive (or Disney transport) to another resort. Hardly worth it to me just to get some variety in my cardiovascular workout while on vacation.

Actually, all bikes are allowed on the Boardwalk. You can rent them at Community Hall. DH and I did and had a wonderful ride on them on the Boardwalk, around the Beach Club and all along the path to MGM.
