Does anyone have a bick rack that fits in a receiver (trailer hitch thingy)?

I'm just curious what type you have - do you like it - what don't you like about it etc.

We have a Saris Bones model, which works fine for DH's car, but won't work at all on mine.

We typically would need to transport 3 bikes, but I am not oppoes to having one for 4 bikes.

My other issue is "girls" bikes vs "boys" bikes. I am just finding it to be a royal pain to put the 2 girls bikes on, as it seems there is no great spot for a bike holder to grab them.

Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Hi. :wave2: We are currently in the market for a bike rack too. I think we're going to the bike shop later today to get it. DH is the one doing all the research, so I can't really give you any answers but you may want to ask this questions on http://www.bikeforums.net/ I'm sure you'll get tons of info on that site.

My bike rack is an attach to the trunk model so I can't help you there but on the girl bike thing...Allen makes this doohickey that is basically a black metal bar with c-hooks on each end specifically for childrens and ladies bikes to fit onto the racks. Basically hook one end around the rod that holds the seat up and one around the stem for the handlebars and...voila! It fits perfectly. I'm trying to remember what I paid for our...maybe $15-20 each. They are worth every penny...no more wrestling with the bikes!

We have the sport rack one and we love it it has enough space for 3 bikes it makes for easy transportation of them and it also keeps them away from the paint on the car. We will only ever buy this kind of rack in the future.

We have one that fits into a trailer hitch on my car. (I will probably have to replace my car in the next year and have to get a new trailer hitch.) Ours holds 4 bikes but that is difficult. Much easier to only put 3 on. DH is the one who loads it so I can't answer all of your questions. I think ours is a Thule. We got it at a bike shop. I just went out to look at it and there is no name on it. I think it was $150 - $200. We do use it a lot though.
