Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

QOTD for Wednesday June 20

Snow_Whites_Scary_Adventure_at_the_Magic_Kingdom.jpg

We must pay tribute to our fallen Fantasyland Friends.....Mr Toad....20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.....Snow White's Scary Adventures......just to name a few.

All of these hold fond memories for guests who visited the parks when they were open. What memory from your past drives you to be a healthier you?

I guess for me it is when I look at my wedding pictures. I had tried so hard to lose weight for the wedding but could not seem to get myself in gear to do so. I look at the pictures and all I see is how big my arms are, or my double chin when I smile, instead of remembering the happiest day of my life. My husband always tells me how beautiful I look in the pictures but I just dont see it. We always say that we want to renew our vows on our 10th anniversary so I want to make sure that I love the way I look in those pictures.

QOTD for Thursday June 21

As Fantasyland grows into it's new magnificence, it is changing itself into a newer and expected-to-be better place. As we finish the 3rd week of the challenge, share how you have changed since the beginning of the challenge....is it your eating habits, is it your exercise patterns, is it your size, what is it? What are you looking forward to when the new you is fully up and running?

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!

This is my first challenge and a few things have changed for me. I am trying to make better choices when I grab lunch during work. I am also trying really hard to get my water in everyday. Normally during summer I do not have an issue with that, but we have not gotten the summer heat here yet.

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!

I have changed in such a way as to wonder how I got to where I was to begin with. I feel so much better now, more able to tackle everything. My exercise patterns have definitely changed- I'm training for a HUGE race! I am so looking forward to continuing to feel better by the end of it all...and at being a size I've always wanted to be- an 8!

So I am very sad because dis radio no longer exists. I had it saved as a favorite because I liked to listen to it while lurking on disboards (and because like Pamela I had accidentally typed in the wrong name :scared1:). The website says it is discontinued. :sad1:

I was almost beside myself when I saw that screen pop up  I could hardly believe it! But there is a fairly decent replacement- Sorcerer Radio on live365.com. They play more of the ambient music and soundtrack type stuff. I am gonna miss my nightly "ride-through" of Splash Mountain though :(!

hmmm well I am now once more exercising, I am drinking more fluids, and I am more conscious of what I am eating. No big results on weight loss, but hey I didn't get this weigh/way overnight, so won't lose it overnight either.

Thanks Christopher for hosting this week. I enjoyed all your pics and QOTD.

I've been religiously logging food for the most part. I didn't finish a few days but came close.
I think my size has changed. I can wear the shorts I haven't been able to wear since our very first WDW trip in 2004.

I'm most looking forward to being able to run further than a mile without stopping. I'm looking forward to shopping in a regular store. I'm looking forward to riding the Harry Potter ride. I'm looking forward to keeping up with my kids.

Quote of the day

change your thoughts, and you can change your world

Hi everyone, I'd like to join you if you don't mind... I am Michelle a 41yr old wife, mother of two (DD is 18 and just graduated and DS is 15 and going to be sophomore) and I have type 2 diabetes.

Hey stranger!!!! Glad you could join us!

Hola my friends! Happy Thursday to you all!

Cleaned like a crazy woman today in the insane heat! Maybe I sweated off a few pounds! :rotfl: But the house is at least presentable for DS's company tonight. The kids are all here and in the pool. Wasn't supposed to be a pool party, but with the temps as they are, we called the friends and suggested that they bring their suits. Now it sees that the goal of the evening is to splash every bit of water from the pool! :rotfl2:

DD's swim meets this week went well and she got a few new Personal Bests, including dropping 4 seconds in her 200 yard Breaststroke! Off to Harvard to swim this weekend, so again, I will not be around much until Monday, at least.

Off to read the QOTD and try to catch up while the pizza cooks for the kiddos!.....p

I don't have a fond memory to drive me to be healthier, mainly a lot of painful ones that I don't want to ever happen again. hmmmmm I do remember that about the time my DS was 3yrs old I worked my butt off literally. I got down to a healthy and normal weight. I remember getting to buy these jeans in single digit size and was so stunned. It was awesome. I would love to be there again. Those memories keep me going, especially since having lil princess. I don't want her having any of those memories for herself, so if she sees me eating healthy and exercising then she will do so as well. At least that is what I am hoping for.

It is SO important to be teaching our children (of any age) good habits! The last thing we want is a thread here on the Dis in 20 years labeled "WISH BL summer challenge, the next generation is here!"

Funny story...I was actually going through some stuff the other day, throwing stuff away and rearranging other stuff to fit into some cute storage boxes I got, and I found what will probably be my Fridge Picture. By that, I mean the picture of my heaviest weight that I use as a motivator. It's from about 2007 I think. Looking at that picture, I even remembered what I ordered for dinner that night- a huge burger and french fries. I see that picture and the memory of how I felt afterwards comes back to me, and it motivates me to eat better and feel better and do better at every turn.

I have FAR too many pictures like that..... and one of them is my "before" picture.

Thanks for the kind words Pam :flower3: The only thing that's really stopping me right now is money. I know I wouldn't have anything to live on once I crossed the state line! But I am really starting to save, and so is DBF. In the last couple weeks, I've hit the $100+ mark....it may not seem like a lot, but it's certainly a start!

Every little bit helps! Good for you for making the smart choice to wait until you have saved a nest egg.

Congratulations everyone! Great work!!!

Quickly answering QOTD for 6/19: Do you have a physical object that you keep in a prominent place to serve as your inspiration to keep on your journey?

I bought this necklace a few months ago from I Declare Charms. It took me a while to decide what I wanted the necklace to say. I didn't want it to be too obviously running-related, but I did want it to at least feel a little inspirational. When I hit on KEEP MOVING FORWARD, I realized it was perfect.

Very nice!

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!

Well.... as most of you know I am definitely not NEW to these challenges.... but I find that I am learning all the time. My exercise pattern is definitely changing.... but not for the better. With a crazy schedule and now summer heat, it is hard to stay "on track" with my exercise.

Happy Summer to you as well!

Hi everyone, I'd like to join you if you don't mind... I am Michelle a 41yr old wife, mother of two (DD is 18 and just graduated and DS is 15 and going to be sophomore) and I have type 2 diabetes.

I've had it for 2 years and I can't seem to get motivated to keep track, test or lose any weight until recently... I just had back to back trips to Disney - I went the beginning of April with my DD and her HS softball team, I won a trip from work and extended it so my Hubs could come down for his very first trip at the very end of April and beginning of May.. I had not been in 5 years so I was excited till I got down there and was brutally hit with just how out of shape and overweight I am.. I did walk an average of 12 miles a day on my trips (I wore my WW pedometer) but have done nothing since my return.

I did have a Dr Appt a few weeks ago and tried a new Med that was horrible z(i went back on the old one) so I guess I need to just buckle down... I am going to pull out my WW books and plan and try to get excited again... I am going to try working the food part first then working in exercise.

My Hubs is a larger guy (5'10 285 lbs) has epilepsy for which he takes Meds for but claims they make his stomach issues worse if he eats non sugar like splenda or sweet and low that kind of stuff - so he conveniently says he needs the regular sugar drinks and snacks - meaning there is always soda, cookies, cakes, brownies in my house and I am not so great at not eating it.. And WE both like to eat out - Chinese, pizza, fast food but I try to behave somewhat when we do that...

So all in all - I just have to set my mind in the right spot.. I know the WW plan works for losing weight as long as you invest the time and effort .. I think I'd like to lose a total of 30 lbs by this time next year and at least 5 lbs by Aug 31 . I will email my starting weight tomorrow..

Thanks :thumbsup2

Hello and welcome! You are right.... WW can work as long as you stick with it. And honestly.... the time and effort isn't that much and it is well worth it. I've been doing WW on my own for nearly 4.5 years now, so if you have any questions or want to chat, feel free to PM me!!

W

So I am very sad because dis radio no longer exists. I had it saved as a favorite because I liked to listen to it while lurking on disboards (and because like Pamela I had accidentally typed in the wrong name :scared1:). The website says it is discontinued. :sad1:

Off to pick strawberries and see about getting some cherries to can before DS2's baseball double header this afternoon.

Dang. That makes me sad (about the Disradio). I didn't use it every day, but I liked it when I wanted some background noise.

I should try to get out and pick strawberries around here next week, before they go by!!

Sad that you can't LOVE your wedding photos..... but here's to a 10th anniversary renewal that you will ROCK!!

This is my first challenge and a few things have changed for me. I am trying to make better choices when I grab lunch during work. I am also trying really hard to get my water in everyday. Normally during summer I do not have an issue with that, but we have not gotten the summer heat here yet.

Don't wait until you're hot and thirsty to drink.... by then it is too late and you are already dehydrated. Work on making sure you drink at least one liter of water a day NOW and then MORE when you are actually hot.

When you say "grab lunch" do you mean take out or packing something at home?

I have changed in such a way as to wonder how I got to where I was to begin with. I feel so much better now, more able to tackle everything. My exercise patterns have definitely changed- I'm training for a HUGE race! I am so looking forward to continuing to feel better by the end of it all...and at being a size I've always wanted to be- an 8!

WOOHOOO! You will be an "8" before you know it!

Awww.... now I"m missing it even more!

I've been religiously logging food for the most part. I didn't finish a few days but came close.
I think my size has changed. I can wear the shorts I haven't been able to wear since our very first WDW trip in 2004.

THAT is a big WOOHOOO!!!:woohoo:

I'm most looking forward to being able to run further than a mile without stopping. I'm looking forward to shopping in a regular store. I'm looking forward to riding the Harry Potter ride. I'm looking forward to keeping up with my kids.

Quote of the day

change your thoughts, and you can change your world

Amen on that quote!

Okay friends.... I didn't reply as much as I wanted, but this post is now 90 minutes in the making, so I can't keep going!

DS has some friends over (girlfriend and another boy and girl) and this was supposed to be bonfire night.... but the fire was SO BIG (oopps... no permit...:rolleyes1) and so HOT, that they couldn't get near it to roast marshmallows for s'mores (or as we call them....sh'moes.... thanks to Buzz). But they made do. Dying for a s'more myself (only 3 points if you are careful with your chocolate portions), but not sure I want to splurge like that the night before weigh in! :confused3

Well.... DH is off to get DD and the friends are here for another 45 minutes, so I need to go check on them and make sure they aren't burning the backyard to the ground! (HONESTLY.... I've been popping up and checking on them every few minutes!!).

Hopefully I'll pop on in the morning!.........................P

Healthy Habits Week 4: World Showcase

1. Canada: Protein! Eat a 3rd serving of protein for at least 1 day this week.

2. China: Sodium! For 2 days this week, watch your sodium intake. You don't have to journal your milligrams of sodium consumed, but aim to skip the generally considered high-sodium foods.

3. Italy: Cheese! Have 2 servings of dairy on at least 2 days this week.

4. Mexico: Exercise! (to help rid your body of all that salt) Stick to your exercise plan to earn 1 point.

5. France: Dessert! Include dessert in your daily calories, points, etc. on at least 1 day this week.

6. Germany: Oom-Pa-Pa! Listen to your favorite music. (1 point for doing this)

7. Norway: Scenery! Spend some time relaxing on at least 2 days this week.

8. Japan: Flowers! Experience nature. (1 point for doing this)

9. United States: Hamburgers! My sister and I like eating at CS options with a toppings bar so that we can make a filling and fairly healthy meal out of a kid's hamburger. Have at least 3 servings of veggies at least 3 days this week.

10. Morocco: Dancing! Do something you find fun at least once this week.

11. England: Seafood! I once read that eating fish is considering indulging. I suppose that is because it is more expensive, although now I could debate that point. In any way you want, feel like you are indulging at least once this week.

This was a popular week last challenge so I thought I'd add it in again.

Have a great week everyone!

the heat seems to have finally broken. i admit i couldnt face exercising when it was 95 out. but this morning i got up early and took the dog for a walk. 1mile today. i love the light free feeling i get after i exercise. wish i could remember that when i am reaching for the inappropriate snack.

on the giving up soda i have fallen off the wagon already. i am trying a new approach now, i can have one glass every other day. weaning myself down might work better for me than cold turkey. thanks again everyone for inspiration to keep trying.

Thanks, Wow good for you I find I am gung ho for the first few months then seem to peter out.. I am hoping with doing this and I also printed the "couch to 5K" routine - which seems doable that I will be motivated all summer...

Keep trying Kate! I think the weaning thing is a good idea, my Hubs is addicted to soda too and I'm trying all I can to get him off the soda/coffee as the caffine is reaking havoc on his insides daily... not be gross but the combo of his daily meds and caffine have him in the bathroom for 1.5 - 2 hrs a night.. getting pretty  of that when we only have 1 bathroom in the house..

Good morning Losers!:goodvibes

Good luck with your WI today. Mine could have been better.

Forgot to get on here yesterday morning! Also forgot we were supposed to go to a regional Scouts banquet last night where DS was supposed to get an award! And, I am feeling slightly guilty that I turned down an invite for DS for Saturday night because I thought he would be at camp but found out Tuesday they don't leave for camp until Sunday! Well, he will not find out about the invite and he was not upset about missing the banquet so no biggies I guess. Got to get my act together!

Pamela, Dan Cathy from Chik Fil A came to our local HS to talk about being a good leader, it was not a nationwide thing. The talk was OK. He was very conservative and said a few things that were not very "inclusive" or "politically correct" that I found offensive but his overall message was positive and I enjoyed it. Free Chik Fil A lunch too:banana:

Thanks to Christopher for being our coach last week:cool1: I'll be back later to answer the QOTD. Have a great Friday all - stay cool:cool2:

Hello folks! Incase you don't know me, I am Kayla, a photography/graphic design student here in the midwest. I've been a little MIA this past week, but I'm here to be your coach this week! I apologize if my questions have already been asked before.

Question of the Day Friday:
Disney12403.jpg

Our journey around the world and into the future begins to today! EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and was a concept for a future world.

What in your health journey have you experimented with in order to help you reach your goal and create yourself a better tomorrow? Is there a certain diet you followed? Exercise plan? Did it work, or did you find that you needed to tweak it or start completely over because it just wasn't right for you?

QOTD: I became a vegetarian in October, I felt that it was healthier and it would foce me to try new foods. It's done exactly that and has helped me become better each day. On the other hand I've tried following the C25K plan and always felt too structured and bored. Some days I'd rather run 5 miles and not 2 while others I didn't want to run more than a mile. I ended up doing my own thing and that helped me to succeed!

--------
I will be responding this week, despite all the craziness here. I lost it a bit this week and the overwhelming need of chocolate and tiredness of always being on my weight loss game got to me. But if I'm coaching, I have to be 100% good now! Right? :rolleyes1

I'm going to the farmers market tomorrow morning and then on Sunday my friends and I are volunteering at a triathlon, should be fun. Also, going to see Brave tonight, I'm excited! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful day and stay on track!

QotD - I have done WW before and it worked (as long as you put in the time and effort) so I am starting up again! and I am trying the C25K as I don't any exercise now - we'll see if tweaks are needed...

oh and PS HI Kayla - your Epcot pic is awesome - my fave park!

Qotd - My dr put me in a set calorie range so I'm trying to stay in that range but doing so with healthier foods and a lot more walking. :)

Hi everyone! Was off the boards while we were in Disney for nine days - should have an easier time keeping up with the QOTD and seeing how everyone is doing now that we're home and settled in.

While we were in Disney, I walked an average of 10 miles per day. Brought my resistance bands, and did my tone routine in the room 6 days out of the 9! I was very pleased with my exercise while we were there.

Food wise, I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted, but in moderation. I started all the buffets with a big salad and bowl of fruit. I got whatever dessert looked good (red velvet whoopie pie in the Land at EPCOT - AMAZING!), but I cut it into seven pieces (was there with seven people), and ate only my share. Tried to remember the first bite is the yummiest. I had my Mickey on a sticks, but shared it with either my husband, a kid, or my mother. Had the super delish popcorn, but again, got the smallest container, and shared it around seven people.

QOTD: What in your health journey have you experimented with in order to help you reach your goal and create yourself a better tomorrow? Is there a certain diet you followed? Exercise plan? Did it work, or did you find that you needed to tweak it or start completely over because it just wasn't right for you?

I did all the crazy stuff: cabbage soup diet, beet diet, slim fast, etc. I did not grow up with very good eating habits - my mom thought breakfast was coffee, lunch was a candy bar and a soda, and dinner was usually meat, potato, bread. No vegs, no fruits. I started WW in December, 2010, because I knew that their new plan focused on eating more real food, and not a lot of processed stuff.

Exercise, I love to walk/run, and usually average 20 miles per week. I'm addicted to Jillian Michaels exercise DVD's, I've done her 30 day Shred several times, and am starting Body Revolution next week.

In the past, my issue has been that I either eat really, really, well, and never exercise, or I exercise like a crazy person and eat everything in the house that could possibly be consumed. With this challenge, I'm striving for a healthier balance.

Keep at it. It is so important to give up the soda!

Thanks !

Thanks, Wow good for you I find I am gung ho for the first few months then seem to peter out.. I am hoping with doing this and I also printed the "couch to 5K" routine - which seems doable that I will be motivated all summer...

You know the saying about "success breeds success"? I think it can work like that for WW. You have some success, feel better about yourself and the way you look and feel and then you are anxious for MORE success! Like I said, any time you want to chat about points (although admittedly, since I do this on my own at home, I am not familiar with the newer "Points Plus" system), recipes, healthier eating, I'd LOVE to chat!

Wow.... if that sick feeling of needing the bathroom that much can't get him off the soda, I'm not sure what it will take. Is he in denial that the soda is causing him troubles? I had an issue with DH's Diet Coke addiction, so I just stopped buying it. He still gets is sometimes (loves to stop at the convenience store for a giant fountain soda when he is out), but he isn't downing anywhere from 2-4 liters at home a day, like he was for a long time. I know some people take issue with this (my refusal to buy it) and tell me that I'm not his Mom, etc, but I think of it as tough love!

He knows in his heart (and brain) how terrible it is for him and while he could buy it and bring it home himself, he doesn't. While he hasn't kicked the habit fully, his consumption has dropped probably 90%!

Good morning Losers!:goodvibes

Oh my gosh... what HAVEN'T I experimented with???:rotfl: I started with WW and walking. I moved on to some circuit training and running after a few years of walking.... but have pulled back on it now.

I also switched it up and developed my own WW/South Beach hybrid diet last year to lose those last few stubborn pounds (which I lost, but immediately found after a visit to Disney!).

I've changed up my routine a few times over the past four years in one way or another (and am DEFINITELY eating healthier than ever before), but have mostly stuck with WW.... because it works!

I'm going to the farmers market tomorrow morning and then on Sunday my friends and I are volunteering at a triathlon, should be fun. Also, going to see Brave tonight, I'm excited! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful day and stay on track!

Oooohhh! I forgot Brave opens tonight! I was supposed to be at a three day swim meet with DD at Harvard all weekend, but we discovered late last night that she isn't swimming tonight, so I'm free!!! Looks like a movie in my future!

*****************

Happy Friday all! Can't stay long.... DH is on a conference call and I am a LOUD typist and they can hear me! :rotfl2:

DS mini party went well last night.... he enjoyed his time with friends and we didn't burn the neighborhood down with the bonfire. Everyone was picked up on time, so I wasn't forced to entertain anyone into the late hours (as has happened with a few of DD's friends...). I did make a mini-s'more for myself with one marshmallow and a half a graham cracker. I stayed within my points for the day.

When DH is done with his conference call I will be back to post this week's much-promised-but-very-late recipe!.................P

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Thank you, Christopher, for a great week of coaching -- fantastic pictures and great questions! :thanks:

And a big, BL welcome to Kayla, our coach this week!

First week of summer turned out to be a crazy, hectic week. Changed my workout time which cut into my Disboards time. It always takes a week or two to adjust. But it's sunny finally and that is a good thing! :sunny:

I'm replying on this page and calling myself caught up.

This is my first challenge and a few things have changed for me. I am trying to make better choices when I grab lunch during work. I am also trying really hard to get my water in everyday. Normally during summer I do not have an issue with that, but we have not gotten the summer heat here yet.

We just finally had a couple of days of summer here, too! :cool2: Other fluids count besides water so you may be getting more than you realize, especially if you are not thirsty.

It is great to feel like yourself again! :cool2:

And on your moving discussion, I would do it in a heartbeat if I was in my 20's again. :flower3: You will never have as much freedom and autonomy in your life as you do right now. Take advantage of it so you have no regrets later. :hippie:

hmmm well I am now once more exercising, I am drinking more fluids, and I am more conscious of what I am eating. No big results on weight loss, but hey I didn't get this weigh/way overnight, so won't lose it overnight either.

Slow and steady wins the race and makes for lasting change. ::yes::

I've been religiously logging food for the most part. I didn't finish a few days but came close.
I think my size has changed. I can wear the shorts I haven't been able to wear since our very first WDW trip in 2004.

I'm most looking forward to being able to run further than a mile without stopping. I'm looking forward to shopping in a regular store. I'm looking forward to riding the Harry Potter ride. I'm looking forward to keeping up with my kids.

Quote of the day

change your thoughts, and you can change your world

Another great quote, Buffy, and congrats on the new shorts size! :cool1:

Pamela, enjoy your clean house! :flower3:

CC, great HH this week again! :thanks:

:welcome: Kate!

:welcome: bigsis1970!

You stay cool, too, Shawn! :cool2:

What in your health journey have you experimented with in order to help you reach your goal and create yourself a better tomorrow? Is there a certain diet you followed? Exercise plan? Did it work, or did you find that you needed to tweak it or start completely over because it just wasn't right for you?

I've experimented with pretty much everything over the years, weird fad, diets, starving, you name it. :sad2: Now I calorie count and have my exercise down. It is something that constantly needs to be modified and adjusted. What works today may or may not work tomorrow. The important this is to work on it each and every day, never give up, and you will make progress. :hippie:

QotD - I have done WW before and it worked (as long as you put in the time and effort) so I am starting up again! and I am trying the C25K as I don't any exercise now - we'll see if tweaks are needed...

oh and PS HI Kayla - your Epcot pic is awesome - my fave park!

You might also want to look at one of Jeff Galloway's program. He is a the training consultant for RunDisney. Here is a link to his 8 week conditioning program http://jeffgalloway.com/training/condition.html and a link to his 5K training program http://jeffgalloway.com/training/5k.html. I like the Galloway programs better because they incorporate walking breaks into the training right away -- that is really helpful if you are hoping to do long distances, like a half marathon. I did 4 half marathons in the past using Galloway's programs. :teeth:

Qotd - My dr put me in a set calorie range so I'm trying to stay in that range but doing so with healthier foods and a lot more walking. :)

You can do it! :flower3:

Twingle welcome back! :cool2:

I'm down a couple more pounds now so I am where I was at the end of the last challenge. Almost into new territory! :woohoo:

Have a great day all!

I haven't been posting much but I am reading along. This week has been pretty crazy for me. I just started looking for a job so I've been to several interviews and have a bunch more lined up. On Wednesday I had this awful pain in my right shoulder so I missed running. Tomorrow is our 5K and I am very excited! I have lost every week so I am happy for that as well! :goodvibes

Welcome Michelle! :smickey:

I started the C25K awhile back and only did it for a day. My knees couldn't handle running. I'm going to try again after I get some more weight off. However, I was able to do walking/jogging intervals on my treadmill just fine. So I may start that back up.

My newest thing to try is a diabetic diet. I know people keep telling me "Oh watch your carbs and sugar intake". Okay, well no offense to those individuals but that's not really helping me. I already know that I need to watch those certain areas. So, I changed my Sparkpeople nutritional tracker over from normal to the diabetic one and selected for them to make my meal plans. I've tweaked a few meals to my liking and will print the grocery list off on Sunday. Then we'll go shopping for everything.

Alan's appointment went well yesterday. I also sat down last night and finished planning out our dining reservations for my birthday trip in November. We're staying the 25th - 30th in a BLT Magic Kingdom view studio. Our ADRs are as followed:

Nov 25th: Sci Fi (Dinner)
Nov 26th: MY BIRTHDAY O'hanas (DINNER)
Nov 27th: MVMCP (No ADR)
Nov 28th: Rainforest Cafe DTD (Dinner)
Nov 29th: O'hanas (breakfast) 1st time!

Nothing much going on today. We're going to spend the weekend relaxing and cleaning. I put a call into my RE's office a little while ago to get lab results. I'm hoping they'll call before the end of business hours. Alan's leaving here in a few to pick up all of my meds from CVS. That's going to be a fun bill to pay. :) My annual physical is scheduled for 1st week in July and I got the referral for the hematologist. I'm going to make that phone call Monday morning. I can't believe its already Friday. It feels like this week just flew by. It seems like just yesterday we were coming home from Daytona Beach.

Everyone have a great weekend! I think I'm going to change clothes in a bit and go do some swimming.

Good Friday afternoon.

We just got back from seeing Brave. It was a beautiful movie. We really enjoyed it. If you go see it stay for the very end. And I do mean the very end.

Having a pretty good week. Thanks Christopher for coaching last week. There some really great questions.

Hello SnowWhite. Thanks for coaching this week.

QOTD I know that I need to exercise to lose any serious weight. I am getting back into it. The last couple of days have been pretty hot but I have ridden my inside bike. I have been pretty on track for most of the week. I took this morning off since I worked out at yoga last night. It is supposed to cool down tonight (it is getting pretty dark out there right now) so maybe a walk tomorrow morning.

Have a happy and healthy day .

Oh geez, I've probably tried everything. Shakes, starvation, weight watchers, running, weight lifting, work out tapes.
All of it works to a point but I get bored easily so I'm constantly having to change things up.

Right now what is working is just monitoring what I eat. I'm finding that yes I can have a chocolate bar or an ice cream bar once in a while, and while I'm not dropping 5 pounds a week, I am losing something. But moderation is the key!!! I don't eat ice cream and sweets every day, which was the habit.
I'm also finding that even if I do want something sweet after a meal I can make a better choice. Graham crackers are just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth but not near as caloric as a hershey bar.

I had thought about doing a meal plan that our chiropractor's office offers but after doing my research, I found that it might be ok for some but it's not enough for someone attempting to train for a race.
I'm learning!!

Quote of the day

you don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great
