We are doing Biggest Loser at work and weighing in every week. We all chipped in 20 bucks. I know I won't win since I don't have as much to lose as others, I am doing it more for motivation, but...

my first week I lost 3lbs!!!!!:cool1:

They do this at my apartment complex every so often (we have a nice gym there), and they offer a free month's rent to the winner.

I always get a little miffed about the whole thing because I don't really have all that much to lose, so there's no way I could ever win free rent.

They did this at my office and I thought they didn't do it correctly. I don't think it should be done by total pounds lost but by your percentage ofweight that you lose. That way it is fair to everyone who is participating.

We start our program 2/16. The cost is free and the winning 6-member team wins a luncheon and the overall winner wins a 3-month gym membership.

I lost 7 pounds during the contest last year, more than 10 by mid-summer. Sadly, I've gained back about 6 or 7.

That was how my old office did it, and it seemed very fair. The pot used to get pretty big, we had 30 people in it one year, at $20 each.

We are doing by percentage lost, not total weight.

My office did this last year. I participated...I think we chipped in like $20 a month or something. It was for 6 months. We did it according to percentage lost as opposed to pounds lost. I won 2nd place and got $200 and a paid day off!

However, I should have won 1st. The person that ended up winning was someone who no longer worked for the company. She was let go about halfway through the contest but no one had the heart (except me and a few others) to tell her that she was no longer eligble. It was awful...I was so ticked off when I found out that she was still in it...nevermind the fact that she had the time to workout twice a day (i'm not kidding either). I worked full time, went to school full time, and barely had time to squeeze in my workouts! I was up every morning at 5am, just so I could stay in the contest!

In the end, I still won about $200...it cost me about a $100 to participate so I ended up making $100 off of it. The money went into our adoption fund! :)

Good luck!! Just make sure it's fair!
