Anybody work at a company that has a "Biggest Loser" program in place? I'm curious as to how its set up and incentives, etc. HOw the teams were decided? randomly or by department? We need a new wellness campaign at my employment and I volunteered to chair the new campaign. I need to come up with some ideas to present to the wellness committee. I have some ideas but I'd love to hear how other companies have set it up.

Thank you in advance for your help.

They occasionally do a BL contest here where I work. It is $10/pp to enter and you get weighed in weekly (by the school nurse.... all confidential). The only thing posted is the total weight loss... not the actual weight. You could do it by pounds or by percentage (which I would recommend... it is more fair). I think the last BL contest here was about 10 weeks. And I WON! (Both in pounds and percentage.) So I won the $$ that was collected
($70). But I have certainly had others here that I haven't won! :rotfl2: Good luck.........................P

Thanks for the info. We would go by the percentage of body weight lost per group as some people lose weight differently. Didn't think about them paying to participate - but that does motivate some people and they have more at stake. We would offer prizes to the winning team.

Thanks for the idea.

Some parents and teachers in our elementary school recently started something like this. They all put in $20 to start and whoever loses the most that week (percentage of weight) wins $20. They all seem to be doing well!

Some of the guys at my company set this up this year. Each person paid $40 to participate and the winner (greatest percentage weight loss after 4 months took it all). It wasn't officially run by the company. They had a weigh in every other week. The women only posted their weight lost, while the guys posted their actual weight. Seemed to work out well for them, although like I said it was very unofficial. A few of the guys lost an obscene amount of weight... and are currently on their way to gaining it back:rolleyes1

Thanks for the replies. All good ideas - our company has decided to give out prizes for the top 3 losers. But those employees that want to pay a certain amount of money (we haven't decided how much yet) to compete for the pot we'll do that. We don't want to exclude anyone that may want to participate so the money is optional but to win the pot you have to pay.

Should be fun.

Thanks again.
