Biggest Loser Alumni Thread! ALL participants (past and present) welcome!

I will be driving up to north jersey tomorrow to spend Christmas Eve with my family and drive down to south jersey on Christmas Day to spend it with dh's family. We did have Christmas Day at our house but we felt it would be easier on my in laws if we did at their house. BUT I am still cooking and bringing the food down there. That means I don't have to clean until the 26th. OUr last tradition was started a couple of years ago. I was complaining about left overs and so was she. SO we decided to pool the leftovers and have a buffet with the two families the day after Christmas. Last year we added another family who also brings leftovers.

Sounds like some fun traditions!

Raenstoirm, we saw that movie! It was hysterical! Hopefully your Christmas does not involve the "jump jump":rotfl:

Linda, AWESOME job on the weight loss!:cool1: Fantastic!

For us we traditionally go to my parents for Christmas eve after church. then Christmas morning is just us. I was originally on call Christmas day, but someone wanted to switch with me, and I didn't hesitate giving it up! Some of you may remember that Thanksgiving was a fiasco at my parents, and unfortunately I am very wary about tonight as well. So, I am so glad that I am off tomorrow so we can have fun and relax around the house tomorrow.

A fun latvian tradition at my mom's is before kids get their first gift, you have to do something to show you "earned it" like reciting a poem, or playing a musical instrument. It is fun to see my kids do it now. Ahhh, memories!

QOTD: List at least 5 things that you want to ask for Christmas from Santa:santa:

1. Health and happiness for my family:grouphug:
2. Winning Lottery ticket to pay off our debt and have some fun money left over, and I could quit working! :woohoo:
3. 100+ pound weight loss:banana:
4. GREAT grades from my kids in school :teacher: Straight A's would be preferable!:rotfl:
5. Unlimited scrapbook supplies!:lmao:

Ok, and a few more...

So today marks the last day of my "coaching" for this thread. DonaC will be taking over. I hope that everyone had a safe and joyous Christmas, filled with wonder, excitement and love!

QOTD: Not really a question, but rather an assignment... Take a moment to think of the wonderful blessings you have in your life, close your eyes, feel the love and smile!

What a great QOTD!!!

Being here in Vegas with my family really makes me appreciate my blessings. I'm really having a great time. I'm so glad I changed my flight. We originally were flying out yesterday afternoon through Chicago and we read last night that ppl have been stuck in Chicago for 2 days in the airport. Luckily we left on a non stop on Tuesday morning at 6am (even though our plane went through the most rough turbulence I've ever been on during landing and I thought the oxygen masks were going to come out. The cabin was shaking violently and we were tossing side to side as well as loosing altitude very quickly. If the stewards had been standing they would have been thrown - I was very happy when we landed).

Not doing much in the way of watching what I eat, but I did tell hubby I wasn't going to Carl's Jr. for lunch yesterday. In stead I had a fish taco at Baja Fresh. Much better than a greasy hamburger.

MelanieC, :scared1: That report from your flight scared me!:scared1: That must have been very scary, so glad you are having a great time in Las Vegas and that you had a safe landing! Hoping for smooth skies for your return trip!:goodvibes

Just a note to say Merry Christmas

Spent the morning, after church, cooking and packing food to bring to in laws. When we got there they had already bought the paper goods, snacks and drinks. I had already bought these and just as soon as I saw it I gave the bags to dh and ds to put back intto the car. No sense getting mad as soon as you walk in. The food was alright but there was no place to sit down. They only have a small bi level. PIcture 12 people, furniture, tree and presents in the living room, kitchen (with table and chairs) and dining room. There was no place to sit so I ended up standing a lot. Then throw in my sil who broke her foot last night and was sitting on the recliner with it up to elevate her broken foot.

I know Christmas isn't about presents but why do I have to sit there and watch my sil's open a ton of presents when I only got 2 or 3. ONe got a microwave while I got blanket from K-mart (Martha Stewart that's how I know) I guess it is because dh and I are married and his sisters aren't. It just feels very strange and this has been going on for many years so I should be used to it by now. At least I didn't get another set of knives like I have gotten for the last 2 out of 3 years (yes the same set)

I did sit in church this morning and made an effort to count my blessings while I was praying for one of my sister's to find a job in the new year. I have two great sons and a dh who ruined my Christmas budget for the 30th straight year. We may get it right yet. At least I tried to keep it down and did a pretty good job so his going over wasn't too bad.(Nothing like the year ds2 had surgery on his hand in the middle of Dec and I had major oral surgery the beginning of Dec so dh had to shop. There was not looking for bargains that year:rotfl: :rotfl: We were just lucky to get Christmas to the boys and our families)

I was also happy that the one present I ordered on line for ds2 got here yesterday afternoon just as dh was wrapping presents. I only ordered 2 things on line this season. The other one came last week and this one came yesterday.

To everyone there is only 1 week left until our first weigh in. Good luck keeping in control.

Question of the Day

What was the one thing you will remember about this holiday season?

My ds2 got home from college and as he was getting his grades one of them surprised him. It was the lowest grade he has ever received (this from a kid who is getting a A in Calc and B+ in chemistry) We were able to talk him through the process of talking to the professors and reaching a compromise which includes more work for next sememster but saves him his GPA for now. It was very difficult for him because he has never gotten a grade this low. He is very happy with being able to talk to the professors and working something out.

What was the one thing you will remember about this holiday season?

Well, I will remember the ridiculous behavior of some of my relatives, :sad2: :rolleyes1 It cast a negative on the holiday season. I will also remember it as bitter sweet as my DD wants to believe in Santa, but has been "informed" by "friends". I couldn't bring myself to tell her the truth...I just said I believe... and I do! I guess that might put me in the bad mommy hall of fame, but I just couldn't tell her, because she desperately wanted to believe, and it was sad for me.

But I will also remember it as one of good times, great food, and being surrounded by my kids and DH on Christmas day. DH gave me a great present (pictures he had gathered up and wrote a sentimental note and gave me scrapbook supplies to scrapbook our life together), I cried it was so sweet.

AND I loved the gift I gave my dad, I know he was going to LOVE it, and he did, the look on his face was priceless and I will forever remember him smile!:goodvibes

Question of the Day

What was the one thing you will remember about this holiday season?

For me it is being home with my mom and stepdad. There were almost 40 people at my step brother's house yesterday for dinner. It was a bit overwhelming and crowded, but just being home for Christmas with my family makes me so happy.

This year Santa asked us to watch a 10 week old chihuahua puppy for a few days before he delivered him to a little girl that asked for him. He weighed 3.8 lbs. It was so much fun to have such a little puppy in the house and great to get a good nights sleep after he was placed under the little girls tree!

Good morning everyone.

Raenstroirm That puppy sounds cute. My sister just picked up a new puppy yesterday and it is only 1 and 1/2 pounds. I dont know know how well it slept last night at my parents house. She is bringing it to her house today.

MelanieC it is nice to be with family over the holidays. We spent Christmas Eve with my family and it was nice and crowded as usual. The only time it was really crowded was when the kids were opening their presents. MOst of the other time it was everyone was all over the house so it wasn't too bad until presents. Unlike Christmas Day where there was no room at my in laws house. All of use were confined to 3 rooms and there was not room to move.

Are there any Post Holiday Traditions that you follow?

A few years ago we started to get together with another family the day after Christmas. She brings her leftovers over and I serve my leftovers and we get a different kind of dinner. Last year we included another family. All the kids come and talk and play video games and the adults sit and talk. It has been a lot of fun.

Have a great day everyone.

Enjoying the day with family. DH & I got up and started fixing breakfast before the kids got up. Once they were ready to come in and see what Santa brought, we finished cooking and my mom came over to eat with us. When we were done, a few gifts were exchanged and we all just enjoyed spending time together. After mom left, I went ahead and prepared the lasagna for dinner (in-laws came over). When I was finished with that, we made hot cocoa and sat down to watch the WDW Parade together. Had a nice dinner with the grandparents and spent some wonderful time with them as well.

Good morning everyone.

None here for us but have been enjoying DH having a few extra days off.

Hi All. Greatings from Anahiem. I brought the scale and I am doing okay. I was up day 1 & 2, then down day 3 & 4. Today is day 5 and I did not weigh. I will weigh tomorrow. The scale and the GPS feel off the suitcase and it broke the GPS. Did I mention I borrowed the GPS from my mom. So tomorrow I am off to walmart to find a new one.

Disneyland has been lots of fun. We were in San Diego yesterday & today (can back to Anaheim this evening). Went to the zoo and enjoyed it but BOY was is it big. Going to the beach and other places around the area tomorrow.

Been doing lots of walking 16 miles according to my pedometer on Christmas day. Been keeeping an eye on what I am eating but still allowing myself to enjoy myself. I am still within the range that was my goal for the Alumni thread.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and wishing everyone a healthfull New Year.

The only one we have is to do with my dad. Since we have the 4 Christmases, he always comes the weekend after Christmas to do his "Christmas" with us. On Tuesday, we hop on a flight and head up to upstate NY for New Years. I have been doing that since Y2K New Years, so this will be the 9th year. Our best friends live in the suburbs of Albany.

Good SUnday MOrning Quiet day here. The sun finally came out after a being missing for a couple of days. It is supposed to be over 60 today. I don't have anything planned. Dh and ds2 are taking a ride. Ds2 wants to go to a friend's house for NYE and we want to check out where he is going. We will be calling the mom about it also (yes we are that kind of parents even though he is 18 and in college.) The whole NYE thing scares me. There are too many crazies out on the road.

We have been going to a friend's house for the last few years for NYE but we are either just going for a little while or skipping it all together. She keeps inviting more and more people (many that we don't know) and it has been getting not as much fun as when she started with just a few close friends.

Since it is SUnday there will be no QOTD. I will come up with one tomorrow.

HAve a great day everyone.

I really enjoy the holidays but must admit I am ready to get back on some sort of schedule. Tomorrow will start back with some norm at least until Thursday then the next week we will be back into full norm mode.

We've kept up with our walking over Christmas, as of yesterday I hadn't lost anything but hadn't gained either. I haven't been eating my breakfast like I need to and a few days didn't get my water in so back to re-focusing on those areas.

Looking forward to sitting down this afternoon and watching the Panther's play.

Have a great day everyone!!
